The Nissan GT-R NISMO Gets Priced At Over $150K — I Ask Again, Is It Worth It?
You know, once and a while I like to revisit a topic. And though Nissan announced its pricing of the 2015 GT-R via a January-issued press release, I felt compelled to come back to the topic now.

That's because Nissan just released pricing on its eagerly awaited GT-R NISMO. For lovers of Japanese speed demons, this is the ultimate as of right now.

But, you will have to pay for it. $151,585, to be precise.

For a Nissan, that sounds like a lot; however, when you consider it has 600 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque and can lap the world famous Nürburgring in 7:08 seconds, you must reconsider. Right?

It is one of the world's fastest "volume production" vehicles.

So if you're in the pursuit of speed, is it WORTH it?

Ya gotta be a serious Nissan fan to drop that kind of coin on this car.

If you want one of the fastest cars around with decent reliability then it's a bang for the buck. If you want a nice entry level exotic car to show off to your buddies then this isn't it

I'd rather get an Audi R8 for about tghe same money. Dunno if it's as fast, but it looks a hell of a lot better! Ditto with a 'Vette, if you like 'em.

If you care about performance and not impressing your buddies by having a prancing animal on the badge, then the GT-R is definitely worth it!

If you care about showing to guy on the street that your car is worth more than his and parent's home or you want to get that person to notice you that wouldn't give you the time of day unless your car was featured on the cover of the Robb Report, then the GT-R is not the car for you.

Its a beast but very limited number come into the US. A few years back a friend bought a new one and although not impressed with the style the power range was awesome. But driving at high way speeds was deafening. It was over 100 decibels and the ride was so uncomfortable. If you want a sports car for any touring or road trips forget this car. Its a pure racer. So if you race its the car for you, if you are planning to hit the road for a US cross country tour bring some ear plugs. My money in this range would be on the upcoming NSX with hybrid power train and close to 700 total hp with rumored 0-60 3 seconds.

It's worth half that much with the Nissan badge. MAYBE $100K with an Infiniti badge, but no, the Japanese Camaro ZL1 is not worth $150K. On the track a Noble or a TVR Sagaris can take it.

No. For $150k you get the 911 Turbo, not the car that was designed to be a bargain priced alternative to the 911 Turbo (and when it came out, the GT-R succeeded at that -- it was an amazing performer and a tremendous value). If you take the bargain part away, though, you just get the Porsche.

If people think $150k is too much, they can still spend $100k for a regular GT-R that will still outperform a 911 Turbo.

No! Definitely NOT for a Nissan badge!

You know the real question is the "other" cars, are they worth it. This car is a Nissan, so even though its performance embarrasses dozens of other cars, its still a Nissan. This is a machine, with steel, plastic, aluminum, etc.. "auto parts" assembled into one machine. All the other cars are also parts, assembled into a machine. Why are their cars worth more, or rather cost more but for them its expected? Perhaps history, perhaps marketing? Ultimately.....that's up to personal preferences and tastes. I don't like any Japanese car because there just isn't any style or beauty to their products. I would never buy this car, but I just don't find it very attractive. Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari's even Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaro's, have history, passion, engineering and to some, extreme style & beauty. Are their engineers so much better or is their technology SO much more advanced? Their cars are still auto parts assembled into a machine.... style & marketing? What say you?

If you have access to track and use it then... probably. Otherwise, as an exotic, it can't really match other cars at the price. Unless you hang out with die-hard 'Fast and the Furious' fans. Pretty Niche. This car will tear your face off though, an achievement technincally... with the wrong badge

Yes, but not for my $$$. I'd buy a 911 Turbo and be careful with the options sheet instead. I don't like the look of the GTR or the interior. I can't deny it's speed but it leaves a lot to be desired in the style department.
