I can't believe all of the recalls and defects coming out of Toyota these days. Its like non stop problems.

Just look at all the problems on the 07 Camry.

Really? Which part of the headline is misleading.... if you don't think its the largest recall, look up the Toyota truck recall........

When you have to rush production to keep up with demand, quality control can slip. This can happen in any industry.

to the Toylex boys. Toyota will overcome this. They are too much a quality player to let this affect them. The biggest problem they will have is staying atop the lofty perch they have created.

They have succeeded in setting a unique benchmark though, they have recalled more cars this year than they have sold to date. That is a historical first if I am not mistaken. Life at the top is a tough one, the next few months will tell the true story.

Watch what you wish for. To be the top company in any industry comes with everyone aiming for you. Look at GM, Wal-Mart, ExxonMobil and so on. It will get worse before it gets better. Did you see the recall for all RX-8's Mazda has produced to have the engines replaced? No one noticed that one.

You are delusional....toyota does not take responsibility for their crap, and the idiots who own them hide their repairs calling them preventative repairs....well if it isn't broke why repair? It is laughable you equate them with sigma 6!!!

Actually, Toyota is being investigated by their home country of Japan for not being proactive and recalling cars that should be recalled and evidently this has been going on for years.

i should put signs on the streets showin ppl how many recalls toyota has. Coz i get annoyed by ppl buyin toyota and thinking their superior ( we have many like this here)

00JT- it is 6 Sigma Methodology not Sigma 6, and the only two that currently use it are GM and Ford. Aren't they having worse issues right now? At the current rate Toyota will equal their quality to GM and Ford so I am glad they adopted it.

huu76- For once you are right. I can't think of another car company that had the nads to say.. Hold everything! We need to slow down and double check this. I gotta give Toyota credit, the are not in such a big hurry that they forget about the basics. They have overlooked a few primarily due to a few bad apple bosses, but they will get on track soon enough.

Didn't some people die in a Japanese Toyota because of mulfunctions and Toyota didn't do anything for 4 years or so? Toyota has had a lot of recalls lately. Take it as facts.

Jason, since you can't figure it out, the misleading part is "the largest recall in US History." And unless you show me this proof, I stick to my statement. Besides, as I pointed out, the recall story is old enws, and for site that should be about new info (autoSPIES), we dont need the rehashing just to create flame wars Or do you really think you had some news here? Sorry to burst your bubble. As Plano points out, had there been a new recall, he would have posted it :)

Quite alright. BTW Toyota doesn't employ Sigma 6 or 6 Sigma. They practice Kaizen.

If I'm not mistaken there is the main differences between Sigma 6 and Kaizen are:

Sigma 6 is about how fast you can get the product to the consumer and how much of a product can you crank out at a given time. Quality issues are of little concern until enough people have reported defects in the product.

Kaizen places a higher emphasis on quality control. The main theory of Kaizen is producing a product of quality and to produce it efficiently. Kaizen is not so much about the speed in which a product gets to the market or how many a manufactor can produce.
