maybe... Of the 10 least reliable cars ranked by CR 6 of them are American. But I'm sure the sample size for Italian made cars in the US market isn't significant. But if it's that ugly thing in the picture, it doesn't matter where it's made, no one would buy that.

People bought Scions, Souls, Jukes, Rav4's, Aztecs, Elements, etc. As small, cute Jeep with available 4WD will definitely appeal to both the younger segment (active, college) & to the older sector as well (empty-nesters, retirees) that just want small little thing to tool around in for doctor visits & grocery runs. And it'll be a Jeep - as American as apple pie & strip malls.

The market for small hatchbacks & wagons is kinda small in the US. There's definitely room for the Renegade. I wouldn't let personal preferences cloud/blind a really good product judgement here.
