Fisker Rises From The Ashes But Tells Current Owners To Expect Little In Form Of Warranty Coverage

Let’s say you bought a Chevrolet. Not just any Chevrolet, but a really nice expensive one. In fact, let’s say you went crazy and checked all the boxes on a 2014 Corvette Stingray 3LT with the ZL5 performance package, carbon fiber roof, racing stripes—the whole shebang.

The purchase set you back about $75,000, but you love the car.

Now fast-forward two years. Let’s say General Motors had some serious trouble, went bankrupt (again), but this time was purchased by a foreign company. That company vowed to put products, like your Corvette, back into production but stop supporting, warranting or servicing models produced before bankruptcy.

The new company is under NO legal responsibility to honor warranties of a dead company. The morons who bought these expensive nothings of cars have the money to afford the repairs. They need to put on their big boy panties and deal with the fact that they were stupid for buying an unproven car from an unproven car maker and that their karma (pun intended) is well deserved.

Anyone who has bought a Fisker Karma (one of the prettiest cars out there by the way...just a striking vehicle...winner's circle at Pebble Beach in 2050 in my opinion), any of the two Telsa's, or any number of those low production British or Italian makes (Noble, Pagani, TVR [RIP])..understands they are basically "beta" testers and are making the purchase solely for vanity reasons.

It's a rather sour lesson to learn that one should not rely on warranty or insurance. They are mere promises and often rather flaky ones. Even if the company offering them is still in business they may not honor them.

The positive news is that the Karma owner will be able to get parts and service and those may be better if they get paid to offer them.
