Hello There: Are You Hiding The 2016 Ford Taurus Under That?
We see a lot of photo submissions around here and many are dead ends or something we have already seen.

But every once in a while you look at one a few times and find think yep this one is for real.

A case in point is this test mule we believe may be the 2016 Taurus.  This mule is a bit lower, wider and possibly longer and if the most recent Ford designs are any indication it will probably have a lot of European look in the design.

Considering the bland competition in the segment, Ford may be able to move right in and gain some ground if it has any serious personality and performance.

I've never really seen anyone driving a Taurus around here. I've seen only like one?

But to be honest, which educated American chooses an American car over a Japanese car, like Toyota and Lexus?

Should ditch the Taurus name again, wasn't the 500 name for slow sales. Maybe call it Fusion plus size ;)

I wonder if it will be updated to the new grille before an all new model.

The Taurus isn't selling because the Fusion is as big on the inside, better looking, and costs less. A new Taurus will ever be a volume seller like the first one was, BUT the Fusion fills that role now. Ford needs an "Avalon". I'd love to see them drop Taurus, call it a Fairlane and send it out ONLY in hybrid, energi, and SHO forms.

Sure as heck looks like a garden variety Fusion wearing some tacking engine vents and some stickers with balck rims. Nothing special IMHO.

While it appears to be a "garden variety" Fusion, look closer and you'll see obvious signs that it's a prototype. Remember that the Acura RLX ran around as an Accord because it is after all an Accord with more wheelbase. Honda even had drivers from magazines check out SHAWD while the RLX was still an Accord. The same idea will be how Ford does the next Taurus. It will be a Fusion with extra wheelbase.

Only have one question. Is it RWD or FWD.
