SPIED: Are YOU The New Porsche 911 (991) Carrera GTS? FIRST Shots HERE!
Though this week may have brought the ultra exciting news of a new Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS, we have more Porsche-specific GTS news for you now. That's because the GTS assault will continue with the likes of the 911 getting a pair.

Seen in spy shots, a new 911 GTS is being spotted for the first time undergoing development. The car snapped is a convertible and we expect the coupe to have the same treatment as well.

This model essentially sits between the Carrera 2 S and GT3 when it comes to grunt. That's not much of a surprise as this model was created to satiate 911 "S" model owners that wanted a more sporting vehicle without going overboard and track-ready with the GT3. Expectations are currently hovering around 450 horsepower at the end of the day.

...Porsche appears to be working on a GTS version of the new 911, as these spy shots of a modified Cabriolet reveal. We brought you news of the forthcoming Cayman GTS earlier in the week and it now looks like the Porsche's latest 991 911 will be following suit.

It’s the first time we’ve seen the new prototype 911 on the road, and the GTS would sit between the 4S and Turbo models in terms of power.

What does this mean? Porsche has yet another excuse to empty your bank account. More money than brains is what Porsche ownership is really all about.

The 911 GTS of the previous generation (997) came in the last 2 years of production. The rear wheel drive version came with the carrera4 body, and that was unique for that car. It also came with the power kit, sport chrono package and sport exhaust system as standard options. The car also came with special wheels that was standard for the Turbo S model and it was near 3000$ option for the Turbo. The cost of the GTS was less than the cost of a carreraS specified with the previous options. It was kinda of a bargain actually. However, I hoped if the power difference was more than the 23hp it added, the sum was 408hp in comparison to 385 for the carreraS. I think Porsche did not want to push the power more because the GT3 (997) had 435hp. In the current generation, there is already a power kit which will add 30hp to carreraS's 400hp. So, I would expect the new generation GTS will come standard with 430hp not 450 as stated in the article. But I will be happy if the article expectations were right.Nevertheless, skytop, I agree with you that Porsche knows how to make a lot of profit from the cars they sell, and they do it in a very smart way, but 911 is an iconic sport car, and when you drive one its very hard to forget about it. So, despite your disagreement, many Porsche fans will welcome the new model with open arms and open check books, cheers!
