Bentley Motivated To Deliver World's First 200 MPH SUV
Bentley will soon unveil its highly anticipated SUV, which will go on sale for the 2016 model year. The original idea was to build a production version of the EXP 9 F, which was first unveiled at Geneva in 2012. Only thing was, nobody liked it, at least those with the cash to potentially buy one. A complete redesign was ordered and the result is coming soon. Bentley is still being secretive on the details, but Autocar is claiming the SUV’s new design "is driven by a desire for a 200 mph top speed."

Nobody will care that it can go 200 MPH. However, unless it can seat 7 people in executive jet comfort...it will gather dust in the showrooms as the marketplace will just purchase its sister car, the Porsche Cayenne instead.

Bentley should benchmark the GL55 but make it a whole lot more beautiful. If its a 7-seater (or 6-seater with captains chairs), has a handsome exterior, and has a Bentley interior (i.e. slightly nicer than a Range Rover)...and they price it at about $140,000 - $160,000 in the US...they will sell a ton of them.

Oh, offer it with the TT V8 and with a diesel by the way also. Nobody will care about the V12 either.

Otherwise, no-body will care. They have to get the Range Rover crowd.

They aren't motivated to do it. Bentley is under the VW umbrella which means that at some point they are going to share some components with the Lambo SUV that's coming soon. I would bet that they will use similar versions of the same platform and engines.

The original concept Bentley did a year or so ago was s-p-e-c-t-a-c-u-l-a-r IMO, but the one above looks like a for-shite Touareg with a plastic Bentley grill stapled to the front.

Of course I can't afford one anyway, so perhaps the designers should not weigh my view too heavily.

I think that is a pchop from when the first Touareg came out. The gold colored teaser is supposedly the final product and it looks like a cleaned up version of the concept. An impressive figure for sure.
