Nissan To Recall Almost 1 Million Cars For Air Bags That Fail
Nissan Motor Co. said it will recall 989,701 vehicles including its latest Altima sedans in North America to fix a software problem that could deactivate the airbags.

The software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by Nissan. This may lead to a failure of the airbag to deploy during a crash and could increase the risk of injury to the passenger, according to the document.

How are you decapitated if an airbag fails to deploy? Airbags have only been available in the last 20 years. Are you suggesting that every front seat passenger in an auto accident prior to the availability of airbags was decapitated? I can assure you not since I was in that position in a horrific accident and survived.

The other thing is that this title for this thread is simply mis-leading and I am not sure why this agent gets away with posting this kind of BS. It's about the software...and because of this the airbags MAY fail to deploy. How is this the same as 'because of airbags that fail'? LOL...go back to school sonny boy.
