VIDEO: And You THINK You've Seen Automakers Do Personalization? Get A Load Of Q By Aston Martin
In recent years there's been an explosion of opportunities to personalize vehicles straight from the factory. While the car buying experience used to be along the lines of you have "x" exterior color choices and "y" interior color choices, the pendulum has swung in an entirely new direction.

Perhaps buyers were a bit too spoiled by allowing their imaginations to run wild with programs like Nike iD and paint to sample. Oh, and don't forget how it was the big thing to have a Nokia with interchangeable covers not too long ago — am I dating myself here?

It's only natural for this phenomena to make its way into the auto space. Now we see companies like Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce eagerly awaiting any potential buyer's request. From what I've seen, these two marques are on another planet when it comes to meeting their customers' expectations.

BUT, their accomplishments have been somewhat mythical because when owners do this the cars tend to stay within their families. Recently we got a taste of one New Jersey-based owner's pair of Aston Martins specifically painted in a color named after himself. That's only the start though.

Watch Aston Martin delight over the possibilities in this glorious clip that showcases some of the most extreme personalization work ever seen, below.

Q by Aston Martin is our unique personalisation service, for an Aston Martin that truly reflects you. Taking you on a journey of inspiration through the world of art, design and craft, to distant lands or favourite places, soaking up the character of objects, materials, colours, and textures - translating them all into key elements of your own car. We are only bound by the limits of imagination.

To each their own, @BobM.

I'd wager a lot of the personalization customers are in the Far East or Middle East. That's where the deep pockets are these days when it comes to high-end autos, it seems.
