NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: RUMORS Swirl! 2015 Toyota Camry To Make A Blockbuster Debut?
When you think about the world's most popular cars, one vehicle HAS to come to mind: the Toyota Camry. It's been a MASSIVE volume product for what feels like eons now. There's good reason for that. It's a reliable piece of metal that gets people who don't care about driving from point "A" to "B" with minimal problems.

Sure, it's a bit of an appliance but that's what folks want that aren't gearheads.

The current-gen model has been on showrooms floors for what feels like an eternity. Though its styling is stale as ever and its interior is lackluster, it had a great 2013 from a sales perspective. It seems almost silly to change it but according to an email sent to AutoBlog, a Toyota product news manager said the following:

"On April 16 at the New York International Auto Show, we will make an important announcement about America's best-selling car, the Toyota Camry"

An announcement, you say?

That sounds more like Toyota will be using the 2014 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) as a launching point for an all-new Camry. Though we don't expect it to be a cutting-edge sedan — why ruin a good thing from a business perspective — we know it will be a critical moment for the automotive industry as it is a product that rings the cash register.

Don't think it will be a brand new model with a drastic design change like the Corolla just did.

Likely a mid-cycle redesigned fascia, taillights, and an new 4 cylinder power-train which is due. Expect 10% boost in mpg; from a CVT and/or dual direct injection.

Given that the current Camry was just the previous one reskinned, it is time for a full replacement.

Sounds like Toyota Camry is getting a ton of boost, to compete with Audi A6 and such cars.

what about a Camry is competitive with an A6 exactly?

Ah - What give the Camry an advantage over the A6 -Well
They both have a top speed higher than I ever would drive
They both can stop shorter than I would.
They both accelerate quicker than I do.
They both can take corners faster than I would.
They both have more gadgets than I will normally use.
They are both have outdated styling.
Noting that based on what I will actually do with either car - the Camry (even when equipped heavily) would leave thousands of dollars in my pocket - and for what virtually all people will do with the cars normally - that is a big difference.

Having said that - I still would prefer a Fusion over either -

Like most Toyota products these days, any new changes will be just good enough to hold on to its leadership position. In other words, what we've come to expect from Toyota. But hey, you can always pile on the incentives.

Oh, yay. A new Camry. Now that I know that I can get back to my game of chess....

Wonder what the difference is between the Camry abs the A6? How about $25,000! Smart people might save their money by buying a highly reliable and pleasant vehicle for a lot less. OK, it won't win many stoplight grandprixs but who cares except the Hot Shoes out there.

It is true a Camry is basic reliable transportation. That being said those that have the means to afford a more premium vehicle for whatever reason ie:prefer an engaging driving experience, want more luxury and or safety convenience features or status are not un-smart aka dumb. They just place a higher emphasis on their transportation needs than the masses which the Camry caters to. I would bet the average Bugatti owner has a higher IQ than the average Camry owner.

You think A6 is better because you are a badgewhore. What makes A6 so special compared to Camry?

And I bet you think the people with expensive cars = incredibly smart.

A slave of elitism should just live that way.

In fact, people like you are the living proof that the American independence from the British Empire and the involvement with the European Imperialism meant nothing.

No...I think the A6 is better than a Camry because of craftsmanship, safety, technology, performance, luxuriousness and engaging driving experience.

You think the Camry is a better vehicle only due to reliability which makes you a reliability whore. Truth be told it is only due to the lack of all these attributes that make it reliable. When you are never innovative or technologically adventurous you never have to worry about reliability since their is no risk associated with using old proven technology.

I would also point out this is an enthusiast website and nobody on here is impressed with boring old cookie cutter non innovative cars which is the reason you get deboosted more than anyone else on here as you can see in this and any other thread you spew your garbage on.

Oh yes, that's right, we are talking about the Toyota Camry. From the same Auto house that makes Lexus. No wonder JDMUSMuscle has such a hard on over this autospies post and will jump at any chance to bash anything that's not a Lexus or related. What makes an A6 better than an Camry? JDMUSMuscle, just go and shut the door on an A6 and you will feel and hear why it's a better car than the Camry. You comparing a Camry to an A6 is like comparing Alabama Football to the Seattle Seahawks. They are both great teams, but one much better than the other.

The next significant platform from Toyota is for the Prius, coming as a 2015. Next is likely the Camry, but won't be for 2015. The NY show may be an revision to carry the current platform thru 2016.
