SPIED: Volkswagen's Golf Is About To Get GT3'd — FIRST Pictures Of The Hardcore VW HERE
Volkswagen is one of those companies that, for years, has neglected putting out high-performance products in order to deliver cars that had better interiors and were fuel sippers. There's good reason for that. Most of its incredibly loyal customers were urban dwellers fuel conscious consumers.

That's not a bad thing.

However, when its high performance cars — like the R32 — squared up against the likes of its competitors, it didn't stand a chance. Subaru and Mitsubishi ate these VWs for breakfast, granted, if you wanted to impress a date, showing up with a massive wing and an interior with plastics akin to a child's toy was not gonna get you points on the board.

Now though with the MKVII Golf and Golf GTI, it seems VW's finally got its act together. The Golf GTI has been praised in Europe and even by our own Agent 001.

Seen here in the very FIRST spy photos, it appears Volkswagen is going to GT3-i-fy the Golf R. At least that's the word on the street. Note the roll cage, the seats, larger spoiler and aggressive stance. This Golf means business.

As of now speculation insists we're looking at either a Golf GTI Club Sport or a Golf R Evo. I am going with the latter.

This statement is wildly untrue: "Volkswagen is one of those companies that, for years, has neglected putting out high-performance products in order to deliver cars that had better interiors and were fuel sippers."

VW's engine technology has been class trailing in the US for a LOOOOOOOOONG time and VWs are NOT especially thrifty at the gas pump. VW most decidedly IS a company that has neglected quality and reliability for years. Dealers make some pretty nice change on all the warranty work they do.

Looks like a lighter weight/hard core version but no 2.5 I5 turbo that has occasionally been a rumor for a super Golf.

Really doesn't matter. This thing still looks like a box with "origamy" trim on it.I wish they would bring us Seat. Much better styling than any VW product. As for performance it simply translates better if it's on a sports coupe like the Scirocco rather than the dowdy Golf.
