Hacker Claims Control Of A Telsa Is Only A 6 Digit Password Away
Tesla Motors Inc's (TSLA.O) electric vehicles can be located and unlocked by criminals remotely simply by cracking a six-character password using traditional hacking techniques, according to newly released research.

Nitesh Dhanjani, a corporate security consultant, Tesla owner and author of books on hacking, said at a conference in Singapore on Friday that he recently conducted a study of the Tesla Model S sedan and found several design flaws in its security system. He said his review did not uncover any hidden software vulnerabilities in the car's major systems.

"We cannot be protecting our cars in the way we protected our (computer) workstations, and failed," he said during a presentation at the Black Hat Asia security conference in Singapore.

Dhanjani said he has passed on his findings to Tesla.

Scary! Imagine driving your Tesla car along a gorgeous, highway - perhaps oceanfront or high atop a mountain or at an upscale shopping mall(i.e. Tesla territory!) whereupon some hacker kid from the third world (or else some domestic socialist activist hoping to "get even" with the 1%) takes control of your car from you.

Where would they divert you to? An Obama-care clinic, a Wal-Mart, a non-vegan burger/steak restaurant, a Dunkin Donuts, a "Dollar General" store? OMG - the horror!

This could be the subject of its own Autospies thread!

People, read the entire article. The only thing that can be "hacked" is unlocking the doors. He specifically states he found no vulnerability with any major car system, including engine control. No one is going to take control of your car.

Typical. It's an American made car with generic design that is just overpriced for no reason.

The Tesla can only be unlocked it says, by hacking it. If you want to see truly "scary", google "Michael Hastings Mercedes remote controlled". He was the journalist who had just uncovered one of our Generals secrets and then his drive by wire Benz suddenly went 120mph into a tree. Just read the article and come to your own conclusions on what's possible...
