SPIED + VIDEO: Say It Isn't So. Could THIS Be A Porsche 911 With A Four-Cylinder? LISTEN Here!
Recently Porsche noted that it is working on the development of an all-new motor. Could it be another sweet six? Perhaps a burly V8? Imagine another V10 that would squeal at its redline?

No. The storied automaker is developing a four-cylinder engine for use in the Boxster and Cayman.

But, it may have been spotted being developed in a 911 test car. At least that's what the latest speculation being spread on the street is assuming.

That's because a 911 working its way on the world famous Nürburgring was caught on camera and it was, strangely, quiet. And it doesn't seem to entirely have that sweet singing six-cylinder sound.

Listen to the clip below and weigh in: is this 911 powered by a four-cylinder?

It looks as if Porsche is testing a facelifted version of the 991 already. Or is the camouflage just a diversion and is Porsche actually testing a turbocharged flat-4 engine here for the new Boxster and Cayman? It looks that way judging by the speed the car grabs on the track and the sound the engine makes. Anyway, we managed to get some shots of it during industry testing sessions on Thursday the 27th of March. Enjoy the video!

I hope not. I won't buy a 4 cylinder BMW so I damn sure won't buy a 4 cylinder 911.

The theory is that this vehicle is a developmental car.

BUT, we do know that Porsche is working on a four-cylinder motor and that Jaguar is rumored to be working on a four-cylinder F-Type. So, it isn't that far off from reality.

I guess, for the sake of profit, they could make one like that.

I want to see like, 120 hp Ferrari or Lamborghini.

could very well be a downsized 3 liter turbo 6. the turbo dampens the high tones.

I hope Porsche make one, so BMW can learn how to improve their boost and torque curve at lower RPM range

If Mercedes can do 355hp and 330lbs-ft with a 2.0T, I'm sure Porsche can best that. I don't see the problem with having something along those lines as a base engine.
