Shortest Run EVER? At Current Sales Rate Cadillac ELR ALREADY Has Over 1 Year Inventory On Dealer Lots

So far, Cadillac has moved just 180 units of the ELR in 2014 – at that pace, Cadillac stands to sell just 720 units in 2014, far short of the often-stated 2,000-3,000 unit annual sales target.

Even worse is the inventory picture. According to Cars.com, there are 1,077 ELRs available at dealers, which could translate to almost a year’s supply of the $76,000 plug-in hybrid.

The ELR is unequivocally a flop: between the absurd price tag, the fiasco erupting over Cadillac’s now-infamous TV ad and the early recall of the car, the launch of Cadillac’s “green” halo car could not have gone any worse. The only question is, how long will it last?

About as effective as the XLR in terms of HALO. As in ineffective.

Halo car has to relate to the brand to be meaningful, ask the good people @ Lexus about LF-A. There are lessons to be learned here people.

Over priced, under hyped and over priced.

In my opinion, it's still a great looking car. But given the good-but-not-great performance and the outrageous price, I think GM has in essence killed this car.

Really nice looking car - but at $75K quite a bit overpriced by $20K - $25K - Also will be nice to have it in a 4 door

5 year's after the GM and Chrysler bankruptcies and resulting bail-outs by the US govt...here's the "Big-3" Update:

(a) New GM = exactly the same as the "OLD GM". Only good thing that resulted from the bankruptcy are the puking out of Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer, SAAB, and Oldsmobile. Since GM has fewer brands, their next humiliating recall where shoddy engineering in a GM car killed 100's of people, should kill less people because they have fewer cars to sell.

(b) New Chrysler = Big Success Story. Mercedes merger in late 1990's was a disaster. Fiat takeover was best outcome anyone could have hoped for. Sure Dodge/Chrysler small cars are now Fiats - but even with those underpinnings, quality may still be improved from old Chrysler. Strange side-effect of Fiat takeover - the interior gear on some Ferrari's and all Maseratis is now exactly the same as Dodge product.

(c) Ford = gigantic success. Just goes to show how important it is to have "skin in the game". Say what you want about those Ford family members that still own parts of it, but I think it was their single handed pride that prevented Ford from the same fate as GM and Chrysler.

Oh - by the way. GM should immediately cancel the ELR and sell the remaining inventory for $50,000 each - where it should have been priced all along.

Nothing ruins a nice car like the wrong price!

Solution: Kill the Volt in fire and give the ELR the Volt's price point.
