GM Increases Truck Incentives After Ram Outsells Silverado In March

Within hours of a General Motors spokesman saying it was easy to “buy market share” after the Ram pickup outsold the Chevrolet Silverado in March, GM opened its wallet to buy it back.

The Ram pickup outsold the Chevrolet Silverado in the United States last month for the first month since August 1999. The Ram posted sales of 42,532 vs. the Silverado’s 42,247.

After the sales results Tuesday, Chevrolet announced that it was extending its March Truck Month promotion into April, boosting lease incentives and increasing consumer savings on certain models of the Silverado.

The new Chevy/GMC are not "new". They are literally the old truck with a few MINOR changes and with MINOR changes to styling. They are overpriced on the lot and quite frankly just cannot be outfitted for duty like a Ford or a Ram. We recently replaced our tow vehicle. We run a classic car flipping business and need a truck that can pull a 5th wheel, dual-car trailer. The Chevy simply was not in the hunt. Ford and Ram were dead on. The deciding factor for us was that the Ford Powerstroke is known to crap out early and the Ram seems to last forever. $60K later we were out the door with a "Cowboy Cadillac".

I think part of it is that the GMC Sierra is taking Silverado sales.
