SPIED + VIDEO: All-NEW Footage Of The Upcoming Mercedes Maybach Replacements, The S600 AND S65 PULLMAN
Out in Europe there's a spy with a camera doing some fantastic work.

Mercedes-Benz killed its Maybach brand only years ago because, frankly, it wasn't working from a business perspective. I don't know why the organization wasn't even more conservative playing in such a high-end market but, what can you do? It probably should have taken a lesson or two from Rolls-Royce who continues to break records year-over-year. Anyhow.

Since there's a void in the product portfolio now, as we've reported before, Mercedes will be using its S-Class to compete with the likes of Roller. For those of you who love throwbacks, the Pullman nameplate is rumored to be resurrected.

While we can't confirm the name choice yet, we have seen this all-new footage of what is clearly an S600 and an S65 that have much different rooflines over their standard sedan bredrin. The vehicle's look longer and the rear doors are shaped quite a bit differently. Well, you have to make room for those airplane seats somehow, right?

uh...wait so then there isn't much of difference in terms of exterior design? Even though it is called Maybach?

Why even pay premium for something that does not look that really different? And why even call it Maybach then?

To be honest, Mercedes should just keep focusing on cheap cars like CLA and stuff, not the high-end ones. I don't see why anyone should pay more to buy an S class, when Lexus LS over-delivers value.

Because someone who is likely to buy a car for the brand is not likely to care more about money for value then brand prestige. If everyone thought like you Mercedes Benz would already be out of business.

The wealthy don't shop at WalMart for a reason. "Value" isn't why they buy a car (or really anything else).

And, frankly, the S-Class has elevated the playing field to such a high level above the direct competition, the A8 and 7 are barely mentioned in the same sentences these days. And the LS, well, it was forgotten a long time ago.

This is going to be an interesting car, for sure. The rear, aft the B-pillar looks very different than even the long wheelbase car. I still don't know if it will take anything away from RR since the stupidly wealthy still view RR as THE automotive status symbol.

It's the same reason why so many potential Lexus buyers would never consider buying a Toyota because they don't want to be embarrassed or seen in one by any of their high end friends so they buy a Lexus which is just a tarted Toyota with a big L badge on it even though it' costs thousand and thousand more of unnecessary $$$. Hmmmm, maybe Lexus should consider just re-badging and selling Corollas with the Lexus logo on it for people with lots of $$$.

This is one of the most inane comments I think I've ever seen on this site. Mercedes absolutely dominates the "high-end" car lines, mainly because the offering by BMW and Audi in those ranges are limited and/or non-existent. And Lexus just doesn't compete there, really. Yes, they once created an LS that really threatened the top dogs, but that's just not the case anymore. Mercedes met the challenge and has far exceeded it, even at a higher price point. What Mercedes has proven, with the coincidental introductions of the CLA and S in the same year, is that they can do both pricing ends of the luxury segment effectively.

Boy are you lost. Delusional. The LS is the same car it was back in 2007. ALL of the Germans have moved on, even the Jaguar XJ is newer. LS = Failure in 2014 with the same car as 2007.

The Sclass is the undisputed king of the road. Always has been and always will be. This new generation blows away all competition and is more becoming of Rolls Royce than anything else. Fit n finish aside can an LS steer on its own while on the freeway keeping you in the lane so you can write something down? Can it automatically put you back in your lane if you unintentionally drift into another when there is a car next to you? Can you go over a speed bump without slowing down and not feel it? I didn't think so!

The S class can certainly pull off some more length and not look like a cheap stretch limo.
