Is Lexus Saying "F" To The Germans With A Full Family Of Performance Vehicles?

Is Lexus Saying
After Lexus BMW, Audi and Mercedes-bashing ad we showed you recently, it seems the Japanese luxury automaker is really getting poised to take on the M’s, S’s and AMG’s of its German competition. With this new ad, Lexus launches its full family of F-badged cars, including F Vehicles (equivalent to M cars from BMW), F Sport cars (stock cars with better handling and enhanced design) and F Sport Accessories (replacement styling and performance parts, like BMW’s M Performance packages).

It's really cute for Lexus to talk all the F talk and flaunt the LFA around.

I am proud that they are finally trying to define their own identity, albeit an ugly one, but their own nonetheless.

Who chose that woman to do the voice over for this commercial? And the commercial itself, just completely uninspiring and weak. Between Audi and Lexus, I'm not longer sure who hired the worse ad agency.

And the cars themselves aren't that inspiring. So maybe that's the true issue.

I am with Car4Life: They have now a more coherent and sportier look that is easily identifiable (and subjectively nice), while reliability remains high.

IMHO, they are way past Buick and Lincoln and at this pace Audi will soon start to feel it.

Ugly and uninspiring cars (LFA Exception).. the last thing I think about is F when thinking about Lexus... stupid commercial. Guy with the Lexus has 2 women, but the other guy has none.... ridiculous.... did a teenager make this up?

It's a cool commercial. Problem is, Lexus is usually considered a brand for girls or soccer moms, not men. And to some extent, that is actually true.

Like you say it is, this is a car blog. I am entitled to my opinion, and your childish comment only makes me laugh. I bet you are most likely a highschool drop out. Do you drive a Lexus, too? lol!

And just because I do not agree with you does not mean you should act like a child. Or maybe you are one. Oops, sorry then.

This is actually pretty a cool commercial overall. I guess Lexus is trying to re-brand themselves as something cooler now.

But still, many things fail in this. First, no one knows if the newer Lexus vehicles will have significantly less number of vehicles with sudden unintended acceleration problems and the problem is, when Mercedes-Benz is actually good enough to be the leader of German automobile industry (Or mayhap, might be good enough to even be the leader of all automobile brands), Lexus utterly fails to be the leader of Japanese luxury automobile brands, it is only getting some good recognition all because it is a luxury version of Toyota, the maker of reliable vehicles.

I would say Infiniti has a bigger and better chance of being the leader of Japanese luxury brands than Lexus to be honest. Infiniti was always, I say again, "Always" about pure performance. But how many people notice this? Not a lot, because many people (Especially the people on this website) think all Japanese cars are boring to drive, all because of Lexus. They think all Japanese cars drive like Lexus....meaning this all comes from "ignorance".

But really, at the end of the day, the luxury Japanese automobiles can try hard, but, they simply can and will "never" be as recognized as the European luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar. There is a good reason as to why all the hyper luxury brands like Bugatti & Lamborghini and hyper luxury performance cars like 911, S class, etc that are established well are all from Europe.

So, if Lexus is really serious about performance now, then they damn better be working on some Lexus LS coupe with more radical design language, and they also should try hard to put an end to this whole sudden unintended acceleration issues, so much so that no one, including myself, would never ever bring this into an argument. And they need to make IS-F, GS-F, LS-F and such, NOT just an F "Sport".

That is exactly it.

Really lame, just like this "F" brand. Pretty desperate to parade around a car that went out of production a year ago. Other than than RC-F, the F brand means nothing next to M, AMG or RS. They need a full line of F vehicles, not just a styling/suspension package. IS F, GS F, LS F,etc then lets talk.

That's the thing. I mean, I don't understand exactly "why" there is an LFA there, which is not even a supercar that comes out every year like an Audi R8 or Porsche 911. Not to mention it is quite overpriced, too.

I fear LFA does not even belong in that commercial to be honest.

And Lexus RX has an F sport model, but all the reviews I read, stated it is a lot more harsh to drive, but it doesn't really feel sporty. I am not exactly sure what that is like, as I never drove it, but does not sound impressive. In fact, they were not impressed.

Lexus has a long long way to go, until they get out of the images of "boringness", "sudden unintended acceleration problems" and such.

I can't get past the ugly to hit the "play" button. Styling plays a big part in my attraction to a car, and Lexus's styling repels me.
