Hot! Future BMW/MINI/Rolls-Royce product roadmap

BMW has not offered an upper-strata sports car since the two-seat Z8 went out of production in 2003. The automaker is working on a two-seat coupe and roadster. The Z6 has not been approved, but it likely would use components from the 6 series and be similar in size. A production vehicle could appear as early as 2009.

Interesting, but there is a lot of speculation here.

The thing I'm most interested in is the raft of 1 series variants that where caught winter testing a little while ago (coupe, 2dr hatch, cab, tourer, 4dr saloon) Not much more has been seen of them.

well the 2dr looks about ready for production, and the cabriolet looks well on its way too, but the saloon, tourer and 2dr coupe have disappeared into a whirlpool of speculation about 1's,2's, and Z's. Irrespective of what they decide to call them when they where caught testing they seemed well on their way to being launch ready, maybe they were photoshopped more than I thought.

The Mini is a bit of a girls car. I'd never buy a Mini convertible for this reason, but the 1 series cabriolet would be acceptable. I don't think they'll be shooting themselves in the foot. For that reason you could argue that and A3 cabriolet might steal sales from the TT

I think BMW has said they are going to sell the 1 in the US.
