NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: STUD or DUD? Is WHITE RIGHT On The Lexus RC 350 F Sport?

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: STUD or DUD? Is WHITE RIGHT On The Lexus RC 350 F Sport?
One car we've been watching closely is the all-new Lexus RC. Although its launch at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show was plagued with a mix bag of results, we're leaning more on the positive side.

Why, you ask? Well, for starters, just look at it in WHITE.

If you were to ask us to point out our favorite bits, we'd tell you to look at the vehicle's stance, overall. Yes, that's production ride height — at least that's what they told us at the Lexus booth. It looks like it's sitting on coilovers! That's not a bad thing.

More things to love. Agent 001 pointed out the spindle grille's chrome frame that surrounds the tiny foglights. Have you seen anyone else integrate these lighting elements better? Also check out those "L" shaped rear taillights when they're illuminated.

But, of course, it's not all a lovefest here. If you ask me, the one thing that is really making the RC's rear end a bit tough to swallow are those slated grilles. What is this, a Ferrari Testarossa? Frankly, even the Testarossa barely pulled it off.

All things considered, we're curious: is the all-new Lexus RC 350 F Sport a STUD or a DUD in WHITE?

Still just too much going on. Not sure why Toyota has decided that gimmicky styling elements are necessary for all of their brands and it doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon as evidenced by the updated Camry and the new NX.

Personally, I think the only gimmicky thing going on is the rear "vents" that have slats.

Everything else is MONEY, if you ask me.

Now that QX80, on the other hand, is the definition of over-the-top.

Agree CID, so much going on. The grille, the front & rear lights, the Nike Swoosh... sure it is VERY original, which is something different from a Japanese mfr, but is just isn't very pretty... it'll sell and I"m sure it'll be slick and competent... its just not very pretty, or timeless. I suppose I"m partial to more "classic" styling...

While I thought the NX crossover out yesterday was striking, this thing is just the opposite. I have no idea what Lexus is going after with the front design, but it looks like a big mouth ready to eat any animal in its tracks.

I think there's a line of Asian men in their 30s with small dicks and their AMEXs out for this one.

A typical Euro badgewhore who only worships anything European and his/her typical racism against Asians at best.

Do you know what the Germans are good at? Engineering? Be more specific.
German are only good at mechanical engineering and its related fields.
Germans are weak at electrial/electronic engineering and software.

Why such depressing comment about other people? Why not post a picture of yourself on this board
to let us see what you look like? What are you afraid of?

Are you a product of the pathetic American education system? We are very interested in the root cause
of your mental illness. Please let us know...

Tires are the best looking thing on this car

Give credit for Lexus finally taking some bold moves, instead of just talking about them.

Most of the design works here, except the rear lights. Looks like they were lifted from a Toyota Camry.

evanisnuts, take your racist ideologies somewhere else. Clearly your insecurities are reflected in your comment.

The straight on side view has the best lines of any coupe. The front and rear are nearly 100% original, which is rare to find these days.

Agreed!

This car is very under the radar at the moment but I am loving every second I see it, especially in WHITE. Its stance is literally perfect.

IF they would fix the grille, it would look fantastic.

i actually think the front and sides are good , have to agree that its the rear vents that are overdone, honestly i dont think this car is worse looking than the 4 series, if anything this looks a lot sportier than the 4 series/ s5, and those two look more like luxury coupes.
