Audi TT Off-Road Concept Hints at Future Q4 Coupe-Like SUV

The Audi TT Offroad Concept points to a production car likely to be badged Q4, and adds traditional SUV styling cues to the sporty profile of the recently unveiled TT.

The model is similar in size to the Q3 and likely to be pitched into the marketplace in late 2016 against BMW’s new X4, the Range Rover Evoque and the Porsche Macan.

Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, member of the board of management at Audi for technical development, said: “It’s a glimpse of how we might imagine a new model in the TT family - a model that blends sportiness with the practicality of an SUV.”

Can someone tell me how to say "Stop The Madness" in German, please? SUV after SUV. This is getting pretty maddening.

And I say this about ALL the German makes, not just Audi.

I will say that the front end works much better on this than it does on the once-iconic TT coupe.

Audi (and likely BMW and Mercedes-Benz) won't stop the SUV expansion that is currently underway:

"Audi already builds Q3, Q5, and Q7 SUVs. It claims the Q5 is the global market leader in its "direct competitive environment" and sales this year were up 17% to 194,430 units by the end of October. Around 230,000 units of this model are planned to be built in 2013 which is more than half of the total Q volume.

The proportion of the company’s total production volume accounted for by SUVs will be about 28% this year, and is planned to rise to more than 35% by 2020."

There is a strong reason to create additional SUV models based on the expected growth of the SUV segment in the next 5-7 years.
