Infiniti Readies GT-R Powered Q50 - Is It Simply More Chum In The Water For The AMG, RS, And M Sharks To Feed On?

Infiniti seems ready to move on with production plans for the Q50 Eau Rouge dynamic sedan, according to a company source with knowledge of the plans.

The Eau Rouge concept was an astonishing delight, featuring under its hood a GT-R beating heart – a 3.8 liter V6 petrol twin turbocharged unit that churns out 542 HP (404 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 628 Nm (463 lb-ft) of torque.

“At this stage it would take more to stop the car getting made than to start things,” found out Auto Express. “There is a real buzz about it.”

As Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel is deeply involved in the development of the car, Infiniti recently showcased a video of the F1 champ driving the car at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.

Finally, a GTR that doesn't look like a GTR!

They better build it. I mean, if not, then why did Nissan even BOTHER to get that Audi America guy?

The Q50 is an attractive package so I hope we see this car in the US. Size wise, it sits right in the middle between the M3 and the M5, yet should offer substantially better performance then either one of these. As long as the price is reasonable, it will be an interesting alternative. With 4 wheel drive and under 4,000 lbs, it will undoubtedly be the best performing luxury 4-door car in America.

If this performs anything like the GTR it's going to eat AMG, M, and RS tuned cars for lunch all day long.

Bring it on, should be a monster, but without the GT-R's chassis and drivetrain, it's won't be as lethal as the GT-R

I know I'll get deboosted to hell for this, but I still think Infiniti is a confused company.

First, they offer the GT-R as a Nissan instead of an Infiniti. Then they un-discontinue the G in order to offer an entry-level sedan instead of pre-planning and fully developing one themselves. Now they offer a long-wheelbase version of the M, which is already an also-ran in its segment, instead of coming up with major updates to the line. Now they want to, essentially, make their performance flagship from their mid-level car?

Granted, Infiniti has always been kind of left of center, but something just seems amiss here.

I really don't think GT-R should come out with Infiniti badge on it. It is not really meant to be a luxury supercar.

And Infiniti is planning a lot more than just that, so we will see.

Infiniti is also not really a Global brand. In markets where infiniti isn't sold the GTR would be a missed opportunity for a flagship Nissan product.

Right, but Infiniti is a brand in the US and it's missing a true flagship car. The R8 or SLS aren't "luxury supercars", yet they are the performance flagships for their respective luxury brands. The NSX isn't a "luxury supercar" and it's going to be the performance flagship for Acura.

Acura's reputation was catapulted when the original NSX was introduced. People really saw Acura as a relevant premium brand (we won't get into how they fudged all that up in the 20 years following).

Two words: vulgar mess
Five words: import tuner boy's wet dream

Truth: import tuner boys are idiots and like garbage like this

The GTR should have been sold as the Infiniti Skyline GTR.

Infinitis should have NAMES

In Japan the Skyline is what we call the G37 (or whatever it is now). I think because that car stole the Skyline name is why the GTR had to make do without it.

"Eau Rouge" is Infiniti's lame attempt to associate their F1 sponsorship of Red Bull Racing and the Spa Circuit in Belgium. RBR uses a Renault engine. I know Renault and Nissan have "merged" but it says Renault on the cam and engine covers. OK. 3.. 2..1.. Freak out "Muscle"

Freak out over what? I usually freak out when someone says something really radical.

But when a highschool dropout with low IQ says something stupid, I am not exactly sure how I am supposed to respond to that.

And this is exactly the case. I guess I should apologize for not being able to accommodate you.

Does you "girlfriend" get to see you during visiting hours on weekends? Spa and Monza are the best tracks on F1 calendar. Red Bull Ring in Austria should be good. Try to watch these races if the television is available.
