Thorney Motorsport (TMS) has spent seven months of intensive testing to investigate the effect of fuel quality on an engine's power output. It's scientifically proven what the car tuners already believed: the quality of fuel you use in your car has a direct effect on the level of power your car provides.

"We spend countless hours seeking new ways to eke out extra power from road and race cars and always knew that the quality of fuel used in the car does make a huge difference in power level and delivery. However, we surprised to find out that no-one had conducted tests on the effects of fuel quality on cars, either tuned or standard.

Is Shell V power the best gas available to us here in the states?

Using Shell or Chevron doesn't matter if they have the same octane rating. If the Shell has 91 for their V-power and Mobil has a 93, which gas is better? I think that 93 octane is the best. I heard that BP is going to release a 102 octane in the UK? Anybody hear about this?

Sry, I meant that 93 octane is probably the best we have in the US for regular consumers.

mobile and exxon dilute their high octane gases, this is not a ploy. You think you are buying 93 octane from them but you are really getting little over 91. Buy anybody but exxon and mobile.

I heard somewhere that BP Ultimate is really good. That they make your engine more efficient or something.

Yes.. BP ultimate is supposed to reduce valve deposits by at least 50% and improve overall performance including acceleration. Not sure if the impact is really noticeable, but Sunoco sells 94 Octane gas(Ultra 94) in the states..
