[UPDATED] SPIED On The STREET! Is This BMW's All-New X6 Spotted Undercover OR Is This Mercedes-Benz's All-New MLC?
So, a funny thing happened on the way to Best Buy today. Well I wasn't exactly on the way to Best Buy, I had just come out after buying a monitor for my office. As I strolled out I noticed a gentleman was adjusting a car cover over a sport-utility vehicle at the end of my row.

Living in northern New Jersey this isn't a completely out-of-the-ordinary picture — BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo all have headquarters in the county where I live. Prototypes aren't exactly rare.

After asking if he was a test driver or engineer as he strolled away from his vehicle, he sheepishly said "yeah," and kept moving. As you'd expect, there's no time for small talk.

Obviously I had to take photos of this. The cover does a pretty damn good job keeping the vehicle's details hidden. Overall, the only element you can really make out is the front valence and roofline. Clearly this is an X6-inspired vehicle.

BUT, the more I look at that front valence and compare it against other spy shots of the all-new BMW X6, the more I think it could **possibly** be the all-new Mercedes-Benz MLC testing in the States. The intake and front valence's shape is a dead-on ringer for the latest designs Mercedes is implementing into its all-new products. The only other piece that's somewhat telling is the glimpse of the rear wheel, which appears to be BMW-esque to my eyes; however, that's debatable.

That's why I am leaving it up to you: is this BMW's all-new X6 OR is it the Mercedes-Benz MLC under development?

What say you, Spies?

That my friend is the all new MLC, u can tell by the lower front facia which is similar to the current Sports trim E Classand forthcoming S Class Coupe

Yes, it definitely shadows the MLC spy shots we've seen, but it almost looks like a truncated version, like a 2-door version. The rear roof line seems a bit more drastic than the prototype we've seen.

Unless Mercedes is adopting the kidney grills, that's a BMW. You can see the outline of the top of the grills, including the separation and space between them, in both pictures of the front end. The MLC does not have that, the grill goes straight across at the top.

Maybe you're right. But the grille looks way too large for BMW's. OH, well, who knows for sure.

Can't be. Were at least 5-7 I saw at BMWNA HQ premises and all were completely naked.

Perhaps it's the X4 M?
