Should The GENESIS Badge Become The All-New Hyundai Logo?

Should The GENESIS Badge Become The All-New Hyundai Logo?
In recent years we've seen some mega changes at a lot of automakers. The systemic, global macroeconomic collapse that occurred in 2008-2009 reshaped the automotive industry.

Some died, some were injured and others persevered for the better.

One of those companies was Hyundai who began turning out products that helped redefine entire classes. Two examples include the Genesis luxury sedan that seemed to mimic the Lexus LS playbook from the early 1990s, and then there was the Sonata that became a mid size family hauler for many. The Genesis stole sales from long-time leaders in the luxury space and the Sonata ate away market share in the mid size class.

Now here's where things get interesting. I can't take credit for this, only Agent 001 can, because he pointed out something particularly intriguing at the 2014 New York Auto Show. He noticed that the Genesis' displayed in the Big Apple had that winged logo up front but wore the swoopy "H" on its trunk lid.

Considering the products are night and day different when compared to other vehicles in Hyundai's past, AND the company went through the process of essentially rebranding the product under its own special label, WHY would you do this?

To show you exactly what we're talking about, check out this Photoshopped image of the all-new Genesis sporting the vehicle-specific logo and then compare it against the Genesis wearing the standard Hyundai logo.

Is it us or does the "H" cheapen the Genesis' look?

Let us know: should The GENESIS Badge Become The All-New Hyundai Logo?

Genesis needs to be a brand not a model

Sat in both the Genesis and Equus at the auto show. There is a reason they are less expensive. Interior materials (plastics, wood, leather) did not hold a candle to the A8's or S Class's interior. On paper, the cars check the boxes on all options and then some, but execution is not on par.

@jeffgall,

My buddy and I took a jaunt up to Toronto a few months back as he was in the market for a new car. Sat in Genesis and was impressed (because it was a Hyundai and not some new company called Genesis) but said the leather was too slippery. Ended up getting an ML instead.

@reviews Unfortunately data refutes your anti-Korean bigotry.

They need to rename Hyundai "Bentley" considering they've ripped off the logo.
They'd also have to replace the 'G' in the Bentley logo to an 'H' unless they really do rename

Friend of mine said the rear of this thing is a dead ringer for the Impala. That's funny, a ultra-lux car from Hyundai has to steal designs from Chevy.
