Paul Walker Crash: Roger Rodas' Widow SUES Porsche Over Carrera GT — Does She Have A Shot At Winning?
Early in the wee hours of the morning on the east coast, news broke that Roger Rodas' widow, Kristine Rodas, is filing a lawsuit against Porsche Cars North America claiming that there were faults with the Carrera GT's design.

Well, well, well.

Though we cannot confirm, it seems that this is more or less a play from when another incident claiming the lives of two at a track day at the California Speedway in 2006. Porsche paid out eight percent in a multi-million dollar lawsuit, according to reports.

Obviously this suit runs conversely to the Los Angeles Police Department's report that stated the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed AND there was NOT a malfunction. I am sure it didn't help the vehicle was shod with tires that were not up-to-date.

All this considered, do YOU think Rodas' widow has a shot here or is it a lost cause?

...The suit alleges that the $500,000 vehicle was going just 55 mph on Nov. 30, 2013, when it “malfunctioned” and crashed, wrote attorney Mark Geragos.

The lawsuit contends that the right rear tire suddenly steered to the left and that despite the efforts of Rodas, a veteran race car driver, the vehicle continued a clockwise movement before climbing the curb, swiping a tree and then hitting a light pole and a second tree.

The car then hit a third tree on the passenger side, causing the vehicle to split and catch fire.

Geragos alleges the car’s suspension system forced it to careen out of control. The lightweight construction in the 605-horsepower vehicle described by Porsche as "close to a race car as we will ever get” lacked a proper crash cage and safety features in the gas tank that would have saved Rodas and Walker, Geragos wrote in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit...

9 year old tires, way overconfident driver, real semi race car without electronic nannies to keep his but safe from his own mistakes, speed over 100mph (as per police investigation not a "belief" of the leach lawyer) in a 35mph zone, all these contributed to this tragic and unnecessary accident.
Porsche is the last entity anyone could blame for it.
Blood sucking leach lawyers (which US has a dangerous overpopulation of) will always go after anyone who they smell has $$$, regardless of real responsibility.

Unfortunately the US is a country where personal responsibility doesn't exist; it's always someone else's fault. Our overabundance of law school grads and strong tort lawyer lobby makes sure that we all have "the constitutional right to sue". Of course a lot of these suits end up to be frivolous but even if the lawyers can harrass companies with deep pockets enough they may be able to get a settlement out of them.Law suits like this jsut make the lawyers richer and these companies either end up passing their costs to their consumers or worse, make their products safer but less fun.

NO! Rodas killed Paul Walker, not Porsche or the Carrera GT.
