Anyone know more about this engine? Is it the rumored direct injection engine for the rumored next gen Corolla? Or is it going to find its way into the smaller US Yarises and Scions?

This is a new engine already in use from 2005 onwards. It's there in the Corolla of Asia (excluding middle east) mainly south asia and china region.
It's called the Corolla Altis. 1.8 litre with VVT-i.
