Will - Don't quote me 100% but I believe it might come out around $75,000 on average. But then again I would assume that might be plus or minus 2k.

Logical: And yet the RS models are pretty much pre sold at 85% before even being introduced, especially in the European market. it's a 2 year built and not one year.

it'l probably be about 70k-80k due to the fact that rs4 is 66k

utahkid: They'll make the RS6 when the RS4 will be out of production so most likely in 08-09.

Logical why does Audi currently make a car that is MORE expensive than anything BMW has in production?
Take a hit: The 2007 Audi A8L 6.0 W12 is $119,000 base price thus making it more expensive than anything BMW has in production, which includes the flagship 760Li with a base price of $118,000.
I can't help it but I hate cheap cars that cost less than Audi.
Logical I think BMW's have terrible ergonomics with i-Drive, can I hear your response to that with attacking Audi MMI??

The S6 will aproach 70,000. It will definately be much sportier than the BMW 550i or the MB E550.

Chewy much sportier? An Audi S6 can barely outrun a 550i which is almost 20 grand cheaper than the Audi. I havn't seen the performance numbers for the new E550, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out it's faster than the S6!
GermanNut, you make it sound like the point your trying to make is that Audi clearly top's BMW's because their most expensive car is a $1000 more expensive than that of BMW's top car.
How about this for ya...BMW top's Audi because their fastest model is faster than Audi's fastest model, and there just more satisfying car's to drive.
The S6 is irrelevent... Money poorly spent!

yes MunichRob, I'm basing my arguement on the fact that Audi does top BMW in price because their most expensive car is $1,000 more expensive than that of BMW's most expensive car.
Your arguement is also valid but won't be for long once the Audi R8 comes out.
Logical I'm sorry, I don't appreciate cars with ergonomically flawed interiors. I"m going to make that my response every-time you post something negative about Audi. Get ready for a lot of bashing of BMW interiors from me, if you keep this attitude up.

Not really. The S6 WILL BE FASTER. And it will only be 1-3 thousand dollars more expensive when both are equally equipped.

efoxS4, The R8 may be faster than the M6 but where is it? Ohh that's right...We won't see it for another 2 years! So I stand by my argument that Audi doesn't have anything that can match BMW's quickest model.
Besides considering how fast the auto industry is moving these days by the time the R8 reaches the market, BMW will have something waiting right around the corner to put the Audi to sleep. Almost guaranteed!
Though I will agree with your point on the S6 being a more desirable buy than a 550i because of it's superior performance and exclusiveness...But that said, Audi has an A6 model for every competing 5-series model, and yet we have compare whats currently the most exclusive A6 model, to a regular 5-series model for it to even bring the competition to the table! What I'm saying is, for an exclusive Audi model in the class that it's in...we shouldn't even be considering comparing it to a regular 5-series model. Catch my drift?
It's just goes to show how much BMW really is on-top of the game!

my S6 was shipped last week..supposed to be delivered October 9th.but I live in Colorado and it takes longer..as far as price, I bet the base is a tad above 70,000..but mine's probably touching 80,000 with the options..technology package probably going to be around 4000, maybe more..warm weather 1000..i believe carbon fiber was NC..phantom black pearl effect 700..heated rear seats as well, plus california emmisions..like I said, probably closer to 80,000 than 70,000 when all is said and down, and I'm sure most people go with at least the tech. pack...when I was ordering the car in mid-july, there were about 40 S6 cars in production for the USA that had already been sold..wonder how many will get here..by the way, anyone want to buy my 2005 A6 4.2 S-line?..fully loaded, black on black, 14,600 miles..I just know they are going to screw me at the dealer if I trade it in..

quattro47 yous S6 is sitting at the SD, California port and will be released after the pricing. if it is at the port expect it soon.
The dealer will not "screw you" if you trade it in they will give you market. You should have leased that car though.
MunichRob- you are right the R8 may be 2 years untill you can have one because the orders on this car are going to be crazy. Expect the R8 early in 2008 model and that is about 10 months not 7 or 2 years. The M5 is a new model and the RS6 was much faster.
Remember Audi sales are up 5% and BMW is down 11%. Being an "indepentant company" and you have a small slip next thing you know Ford ownes you.

why do people bring up audi sales relevant to BMW's all the time? Audi sell 1/3 of the cars BMW does in the US. That is solely due to the fact that BMW isnt up to 100% production ... Th S6 is slower than the 550 ... Car & driver tested the 550 and the 0- 60 was 5.1 seconds vs the S6 which was tested at 0 - 60 at 5.4 seconds ... The S6 stops just as well as the BMW 550 and the handling is a dead heat ... The S6 costs about $3k more than the BMW of the MSRP and will be worth 3 years from now about $10k less than the BMW. With the Audi you also have to pay $550 for the scheduled maint to be part of the car. In the BMW for 4 years or 50k miles Full maint is paid for ( oils services, inspections, brakes, wiper blades, & light bulbs ) & BMW assist is fully paid for 4 years or 50k miles ....

Show me the S6 that was slower than the 550. The S8 does it in 4.7 seconds, the S6 is .2 seconds slower, it will do it in 4.9 seconds or faster.

in between S6, E63/550, and M5/550i the S6 is the best buy think about it better ergonomics than BMW and in my opinion MB and has Lambo desendant engine, Quattro AWD, nice exterior and less expensive than M5 and E63

iamevilhomer: actually, i was told it was coming into houston on/about october 3rd..then a weeks allowance for shipping to denver..might be sooner, but not much.glad they got my car done before the august factory vacation..as far as leasing my current A6, i would not have had the car that i wanted, as i custom ordered it with several "sold order only" options..besides, i'm not a big fan of leasing..i will probably end up trading it in..i will keep the S until the RS comes out in 2 years..and if the RS6 doesn't make a comeback, i'm sure i'll find something in the audi lineup to buy...

The A8 has an all aluminum space frame. The only other cars that have similar technolog is the Ford GT and maybe the Jagaur XJ. It also funny that because it had a lower lease, it isn't as good of a car as the one with a higher lease.

A word about BMW's full service:
I notice that one of the taillights are out, and immeadtly bring the car to the dealership. It's a busy Friday, but they take me in and try to fix the bulb. They put a new bulb in, but it dosen't work. They conclude that the entire taillight assembly is faulty, and search all over the service for a taillight, and find one. They install it, and it works. They also replace ALL of the bulbs on BOTH taillights, so the brightness is uniform. They notice that the wiper inserts need to be changed, and do that. I walk out with good wipers, a new taillight and bulbs, all for $0.00
