Move Over AMG! - Audi Reveals 518 HP A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept

This is the Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept, revealed online by the German manufacturer ahead of a public debut at the upcoming Worthersee tuning event at the end of May.

Based on the S3 saloon, the show car previews the upcoming production RS3, which we recently spied testing on public roads in Germany.

Power comes from Audi’s 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine – currently found in the RS Q3 – and heavily revised for the concept to produce 518bhp, with torque rising to 600Nm.  A larger turbocharger, revised intake and exhaust system and reworked intercooler are just some of the modifications helping boost the A3 Clubsport Quattro’s output.

Great looking car, possibly better looking if it were made into a two door coupe.

I'm worried that there will be tons of lag from a single "larger" turbo. Secondly, this will easily be a near $60,000 car if it ever made it to the U.S.

p.s.

Still waiting on Audi to bring the RS4 Avant to the U.S., or even a S4 Avant.

Ok this Audi is actually pretty nice. But yeah it will likely be VERY expensive for what it is in other respects -- a Jetta-sized sedan. Still, over 500 horsepower and lb-ft of torque is never something to frown upon.

The car doesn't really have any direct competition... the M2 isn't going for nearly that kind of power, and the CLA45AMG is also easily outmatched as far as power trains go.

Beautiful and aggressive design by Audi! Audi has found a niche in the ultra-high performance compact category. With over 500 horsepower it will be faster than both the CLA45 AMG and the BMW M2.

This will be a fantastic addition to the Audi lineup and is a fine display of what happens when high-performance meets aggressive design and compact dimensions.

Put this powertrain in the RS5 and I'm all-in. The NA 4.2 currently in the RS5 needs to go away.
