BMW Releases New Images Of The New X4 SAV - Is It Everything You Wished For?
We just wanted to pass on a flurry of new photos of BMW's upcoming X4 Sports Activity Coupe that was just released.

Planned for a spring release next year the X4 plans to fill the gap between the X3 and X5 SUVs with a mid-sized ute for growing families.

Below is the press release from original announcement to refresh you again with the details.

Given the size and probable price points we see no problem in BMW moving boat loads of these babies, but will it carve out a new segment or dilute the existing sales from the X3 and X5?

Tell us what you think!

2014 BMW X4 Official Photos

The new BMW X4 offers the premium mid-size segment its first taste of the Sports Activity Coupe concept. Like its larger sibling, the BMW X6, the X4 offers a unique and unmistakable presence on the road. The X6 has demonstrated the appeal of the Sports Activity Coupe concept with 250,000 sold to date.

A unique expression of The Ultimate Driving MachineTM.
Compared to its stable-mate, the BMW X3, the newest Sports Activity Coupe reveals a dynamic personality all its own and an even more ebullient character. At 184.3 inches (4,680 mm) in length, it is 0.6 inches (14 mm) longer than the X3, but is also 1.5 inches (37 mm) lower (height: 63.9 in./1,624 mm) and cuts a persuasive figure with its perfectly balanced proportions and distinctive character. The large air intakes positioned on the outer edges of the front facia and the precise character lines in the front apron lend the X4 a more muscular appearance. This lowers the car’s visual centre of gravity closer to the road, signalling its sharper dynamics. The effect is further enhanced by the LED foglights located below the signature twin round headlights, an arrangement that defines the striking face of every BMW X model.

The coupe-like roofline of the BMW X4 reaches its highest point over the front seats, reflecting the traditional driver focus of every BMW, before dropping gently down towards the trailing edge of the tailgate. These stretched lines underline the sporting coupe character of the X4. The unique design of the BMW X4 is further reinforced by the fresh interpretation of the signature swage line running along the flanks of BMW models which, for the first time, is split into two. The first section rises smoothly from the front wheel arches to the rear door handles, highlighting the dynamic ability of the new BMW X4, while the second part accentuates the powerful sculpting of the rear fenders. The contoured C-pillars – complete with muscular shoulders – represent a continuation of the theme, as does the broad and low-set rear end, which reminds the driver and passengers of the performance potential served up by the new BMW X4 before they even climb aboard.

Sporty and exclusive interior.
The interior of the new BMW X4 reveals a synthesis of sportiness and exclusivity. The X4’s body is mounted 1.5 inches (37 mm) lower than that of the BMW X3. The driver and front passenger sit 0.8 in. (20 mm) lower and the rear passengers 1.1 in. (28 mm) lower, creating the feeling of a classic sports coupe. It is a sensation reinforced by the rear seat bench, which comes with the type of continuously moulded side bolsters normally only provided by two individual seats, but still offers space for three passengers. Equally impressive is the load capacity available, 17.7- 49.4 cu. ft. (500–1,400 liters), which can be used in a wide variety of ways thanks to the standard 40:20:40 split rear seat bench. Everyday usability is enhanced even further by the standard power tailgate. It is available with the extra convenience of the optional Smart Opener, which allows it to be opened with a movement of the foot. All X4s include BMW’s iDrive Controller and central display. When equipped with the available on-board navigation system, the new BMW X4 receives the new iDrive Controller with touchpad, which allows drivers or passengers to use their finger to write letters for text inputs, such as a navigation destination, for example.

The premium quality and exclusivity of the interior are underlined by selected materials, subtle electroplated accents, a high-gloss black-panel look and aluminum trim strips in the wood panelling. The unmistakable character of the BMW X4 is further highlighted by a level of standard equipment even more generous than that found on the BMW X3. All X4s include the aforementioned power tailgate as well as a sports leather steering wheel with shift paddles, variable sport steering, Performance Control and rear Park Distance Control.

M Sport and xLine for extra individualization.
Available M Sport brings the outstanding dynamics of the BMW X4 into greater focus. One element of M Sport is the M Aerodynamics package, which gives the BMW X4 a particularly striking appearance. The High-gloss Shadow Line trim lends even greater emphasis to the unique character of the Sports Activity Coupe and the sporty suspension set-up raises driving pleasure another notch. Six selected paint finishes (including Melbourne Red metallic), four special interior trim strips, sports seats with various leather upholstery options, an Anthracite headliner, an M leather steering wheel, M door sill finishers, an M driver’s footrest and a choice of 19 or 20-inch M light-alloy wheels add the finishing touches to the car’s appearance.

In addition to the broad-based and high-quality selection of different colors, light-alloy wheels, upholstery variants, interior trim elements and trim strips for which BMW is renowned, the xLine equipment package gives BMW X4 customers the chance to shine an even brighter spotlight on the X character of their car.

Powerful and refined BMW TwinPower Turbo engines.
The state-of-the-art TwinPower Turbo engines available for the new BMW X4 boast High Precision Direct Injection, Double-Vanos variable camshaft control and Valvetronic fully variable valve timing. These technologies join forces to provide the high-revving character for which BMW is renowned, along with excellent power delivery, refinement – and impressive efficiency. Drivers with sporting ambitions will appreciate the top-of-the-line X4 xDrive35i. Its 3.0-liter inline six conjures up maximum output of 300 hp between 5,800 and 6,400 rpm and peak torque of 300 lb-ft (400 Nm) at 1,200–5,000 rpm. That’s enough to power the X4 xDrive35i from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. The 240 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powering the BMW X4 xDrive28i produces peak torque of 260 lb-ft (350 Nm) and a 0 to 60 mph time of six seconds flat. Both engines are mated to BMW’s 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission.

BMW xDrive: the intelligent all-wheel-drive system with Performance Control.
All X4 models have a sporty suspension set-up and come standard with xDrive, BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system.  Performance Control is standard on the X4. It uses the Dynamic Stability Control system to direct power to the outside rear wheel when cornering which improves traction, turn-in and directional stability. Working in tandem with the standard variable sport steering, these systems allow the BMW X4 to deliver driving dynamics that one would expect of The Ultimate Driving Machine. An xDrive status display in the Control Display uses three-dimensional graphics to keep the driver informed of the car’s body roll and pitch. If the navigation system is specified, a compass display in the instrument cluster is included.

BMW EfficientDynamics: ECO PRO mode and coasting function reduce fuel consumption.
Further reductions in fuel consumption can be achieved courtesy of ECO PRO mode (selected using the Driving Dynamics Control switch), the ECO PRO Route option and the eight-speed Steptronic transmission’s coasting function. ECO PRO adjusts all of the on-board systems for maximum fuel efficiency. It includes a coasting function which shuts off fuel when the driver lifts off the accelerator. It also provides tips to the driver that would help to drive in a more efficient manner. The payoff is shown in the central display which shows how much further the BMW X4 can be driven on the gasoline available in the tank. With the available navigation system, the ECO PRO Route option prompts the driver to select and follow the route to the chosen destination that would use the least amount of fuel. The X4 also features BMW’s auto start/stop function which shuts of the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop in order to avoid wasting fuel when the X4 would otherwise be needlessly idling.

Proactive Driving Assistant offers recommendations.
The innovative BMW Proactive Driving Assistant offers additional potential for fuel saving. This technology uses route data supplied by the car’s navigation system to identify situations in advance which will require the car to slow down – e.g. on the way into towns and villages, speed limits etc. – and give suitable recommendations.

BMW ConnectedDrive: Driver assistance and services & BMW Apps.
Providing added safety and greater convenience in the BMW X4 is the optional full-color Head-Up Display, which projects all important driving information and assistance systems displays into the driver’s field of view in high resolution. What’s more, the latest-generation Navigation System with ECO PRO route guidance now teams up with the iDrive Controller with touchpad.  Mounted on top of the controller, the touchpad allows texts – e.g. a navigation destination – to be easily input using a finger. Included with the Navigation System in the US is Advanced Real Time Traffic Information (ARTTI). ARTTI includes a full-color graphic that shows the flow of traffic on major roads and can offer route detours to help avoid traffic jams along the selected route.

The array of available driver assistant systems provides an added measure of active safety. Active Driving Assistant + Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go includes Pedestrian and Collision Warning with City Braking function as well as Lane Departure Warning. Also available as options are Active Blind Spot Detection and rearview camera with Surround View which provides a bird’s-eye view of the area around the BMW X4. The available Parking Assistant steers the X4 into parallel parking spaces after alerting the driver to a space large enough for the vehicle.

ConnectedDrive Services allow customers to access embedded service as well as select smartphone applications. The available Concierge Service connects the car with a BMW Call Center, providing real-time help with services as varied as making a restaurant reservation or finding the nearest 24 hour pharmacy. The BMW Assist eCall function, meanwhile, takes safety to another level. It is triggered automatically or can be used manually. As soon as the crash sensors report an airbag deployment, the system sends the precise vehicle location and all key information, including an assessment of the likelihood of serious injury, to the BMW Call Center via the built-in SIM card, thus enabling fast and effective assistance at the accident location. BMW Assist eCall as well as BMW Teleservice is standard in every BMW X4, with service included for ten years at no additional charge.

With BMW Apps, select third party apps may be accessed and operated using the iDrive Controller and display. Apps which are integrated today using an iPhone include Pandora, Stitcher, Audible, Rhapsody and TuneIn as well as the Amazon Cloud Player.

The BMW X4: The next Sports Activity Coupe
The BMW X4 offers the unique blend of style, driving dynamics and all-road capability that can only be offered by a BMW Sports Activity Coupe. Watch for it in authorized BMW centers beginning in spring 2014.

Even uglier than the X6 - the proportions are so bad it hurts to look at it....

I couldn't agree more. The X4 is sinfully ugly.

BMW's belief that because the X6 is such a hot seller and applies the same treatment and tweaks to the X5 as the X4 does to the X3 and therefore the X4 will also be a sales success is so off-target it isn't even funny.

The only reason why people bought the X6 is because there was no other BMW SUV that had the "coupe" look to it. The X4 has to deal with not only the X6, but also the 3-Series GT and X5.

The X4 is a perfect example of what happens when ugly design meets imaginary market niches and the belief that just because one model was successful, the same strategy will also be successful even when presented in a more compact form.

I don't think I've ever seen you with a positive comment score. Way to go, buddy, good for you. Everyone bookmark this thread -- we're all going to want to come back and look at it in about 18 months when GermanNut is waxing poetic over spy photos of the Audi Q8 and Q6, which will be direct competitors to the X6 and X4. Because make no mistake, they are coming, whether you hate the bodystyle or not. Benz has the GLC coming, and Audi will be following suit shortly, BMW was just first.

The difference between Audi's Q4, Q6 etc. is that they will look better than BMW's ugly X4. BMW missed the design part and every review has criticized it's hugely awkward appearance. Having the same car is fine if it's appealing design-wise and there is room in the market for it. BMW creates ugly SAVs with no room in the marketplace.

Audi's new aggressive and differentiated design philosophy will reign supreme over BMW's horribly ugly and pointless X4.

Nuttie -- Love your comment about "Audi's New Design theme" ... You are kidding right? All the models look exactly the same. There is no difference. The A3 looks like the New A4 which looks like the A6 and thus looks like the A8.

And yes the Q4 is aimed at the X4, the Q6 at the X6 . Just like the Q7 was brought out after the X5 debuted in 1999 & the Q5 came out after BMW brought out the X3 in 1994 or the Q3 to compete with the X1 .... There is obviously a market, you are just mad that Audi is following BMW

"The difference between Audi's Q4, Q6 etc. is that they will look better than BMW's ugly X4."

Aaaaaaaaaaan, poof, back to negative. The other cars in the segment are going to look just like those BMW's you're hating on right now, buckaroo. You know this. I know this. The magazines know this. Look no further than the Mercedes MLC. It's an X6 with a Benz emblem, so similarly shaped that a week ago one of the agents posted a spy photo of a camo'd X6 and thought it was the new MLC. Audi's version is not going to stray far from the formula either. So go ahead and hate, just keep in mind we're all going to be calling you a hypocrite before too long. But then you're probably used to that by now.

The engines don't matter when it looks sinfully ugly, forces buyers to pay MORE than the X3 for the same interior but with LESS room and has competition from the X3, X6 and 3-Series GT.

This car will be a giant failure.

There simply is no room in BMW's lineup for a 3-Series Sedan, 4-Series Coupe, 3-series Gran Turismo, 4-Series Gran Coupe, X3 and X4.

I don't know which model will cannibalize sales of the other models, but if I had to bet the 3-Series Sedan will eat sales of the 4-Series Gran Coupe and the 3-Series Gran Turismo will eat sales of the X4. Cannibalization is going to happen one way or another.

just like you originally thought the X6 would be a giant failure. Yet isnt Audi thinking of building a Q4 which would compete with the X4? And after 250k sold worldwide, I guess the X6 was a bigger success than originally thought. I think the X4 is perfect. Plus I love how you refer to cannibalizing sales. The X3 doesnt compete with the X6, nor does the 3-series GT compete with the soon to be released X4. If anything, I am expecting your beloved Audi will step up production schedule of the Q4 as you will see the X4 will be a big success, just like the X6 was

The X6,3-Series GT and X3 are direct competitors to the X4 whether BMW wants to believe it or not. The X6 is the same car but bigger, the 3-Series GT offers the same hunchback look and the X3 offers the same interior, arguably less offensive design and more room for less money.

The only reason why the X6 was a success is because of the fact it was the only coupe-like SUV in BMW's lineup before all the GTs and Gran Coupes started appearing. Now, with the 3-Series GT, X3 and X6, BMW has shot itself in the foot.

who are you to speak of no room for a model, now that is funny coming from someone who Loves Audi.

So what is the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 ? audi offers a wagon in the A4, & the A6. Plus I believe there is talk about a A2 & A9 coming out. Then you have the Q1 ( competes with the A1 ) , Q3 ( which competes with the Q5 as does the allroad as does the New Q4 due out in a couple years yet that is based on a coupe like Suv... lol .. Or the Q5 which competes with the Q3 and the soon to be built Q6 ( which is supposed to look like a X6 ) which competes with the Allroad and the Toureag

The great thing about Audi is they all look alike even though you professed that Audi was going to come out with this New Distinctive Design language. Now that is funny.

We'll let "BMm4" get SUCKERED into this 'buy'. And when you drive by, we'll chuckle - there goes a distant reminder of the old AMC "fishbowl" (but with a nicer engine). Nuttie --- You have a lot to speak about in these matters as the A3 and the A4 are virtually the same car. The X6 is not in compeition to the 3-series Gt, X4 or the X3 as you have obviously never driven one. Yet you love to spew out misinformation.

terry have you actually built a Macan S to see a comparison. I just built a Macan S with the 20" wheels, Navigation, Bose surround sound system, heated seats, Leather seats with 14 way power, sports package, torque vectoring, metallic blue, aluminum trim and came out to a MSRP of $65,840 .... I just did a BMW X4 3.5i with the M-sport package, harmon kardon, navigation, heated seats, 20" wheels, aluminum trim and came out with a MSRP of $58,500 ....

That is $8k less for more performance, free full maintenance included ...

Base price it the same - - - options are as the definition of the term applies - - - not a requirement. Read the comment from rumnyc below, the Macan looks better, drives better and has a much better interior. Not to mentions the Cayman weights less and has more luggage space.

I not sure where you get you better performance numbers for the X4 over the Macan S? I open my check book for car with handling and superior handling dynamics. No not one reviewer in the world has ever said that an equivalent BMW ever had better car handling and driving dynamics that a Porsche. Ever. Matter of fact, just the opposite has happened, most reviewers are in the camp that BMW driving dynamics have been going and growing soft as the company mass markets cars to the US and China will luxury, size and weight are the new mantra.

terry ... actually the X6 M dusted the Porsche Cayenne Turbo in an Auto Car test where the drove from a standing start the Range Rover sport supercharged, ML63, X6 M and Cayenne Turbo ... and it wasnt even close .. and it is at least $50k less. You ask would I buy the Macan over the X4, no and yet that is my opinion.

I like Macan and thought it really looks sharp. I actually like it much better than the Cayenne. I would agree that Porsche is the standard for performance. Has BMW toned it down a bit, yes. Yet they had to to be competitive with the likes on Lexus, Mercedes and Audi. Whereas Porsche is able to be singularily focused. Would I buy a Porsche 911 over the New M4, not in this lifetime as the M4 is a better car all the way around. A cayman compared to a M4 as a pure performance car that I am going to race with, then I would take the Cayman as that car is awesome on a racetrack. My friend has a Cayman S, yet as a daily driver that car beats the hell out of you. Especially on the crappy Chicago roads...

Terry ... That is the Cayenne Turbo S which is a bump up on horsepower over the Cayenne Turbo and is only $60,000 more. The Cayenne Turbo has a base price of $110,800 with 500 hp & the Cayeen Turbo S is 550 hp at $145,000 .... So I can get a X6 M which is clearly faster in every aspect of the Cayenne Turbo and still save myself about $15k or can get one nearly as quick and save $55k ...

Sorry, doesn't prove your point at all. You're just a willow blowing in the wind with your statements. Random gunshots. One moment you claim the X4 has better performance than the Macan S, next you claim that you were talking about the X6 M beating the Cayenne Turbo, which was completely incorrect, which of course doesn't matter since the X6 M is an older car.

yet your arguement is based on a comparison between 2 vehicles that are $60k apart in MSRP ... Lets get back to the X4 at hand and look at the base performance figures. BMW is estimating performance at 5.0 seconds to 62 mph which is quicker than the Macan S at 5.2 seconds. The Macan S doesnt come standard with torque vectoring or a AWD drive version of LSD as standard, yet as an option & with its higher center of gravity and more weight, it will not handle as well as the X4. That is based on physics and inertia. ON paper the X4 will handle better and be faster than the Macan S, offer similar space, is less expensive, offers free Full maintenance .... Styling wise the Macan S is very sharp looking, actually I think it looks ALOT better than the Cayenne . I also like the X4 as I love the X6 & yet the styling is a love it or hate it type opinion.

I thought we already had a discussion about that hole you are digging?

Do you even bother to read specs, or to you just spout them off a fact:
0 - 62 time: Exactly the same (with the Sport Chrono, the Macan S is faster)
Height: Exactly the same
Cargo Space: Excatly the same

--- And you just know the X4 has a better center of gravity and thus would handle better by ???
--- And you do realize that the torque vectoring on the X4 is brake based an not diff based - - - an inferior why to deal with it.

You have already poster 12 responses in this thread alone defending this car and BMW. While the X4 may have some relative good performance numbers, the rest of the design is a mess. A smaller version of the X6 which Top Gear rated as a 4 out of 10.

You and GermanNut, I have never understood industry shills on sites such as this? Must be the Money, x-amount for each post? Unless you are getting paid for these posts, it would be a big waste of your time.

I'm thrilled Audi is following BMW's X4 and X6 with its own Q6 and Q8 models because Audi's Q4 and Q6 will be much better looking coupe-like SUVs and they will make it even more apparent to prospective buyers how bad BMW's design really is.

Audi's upcoming aggressive and highly differentiated strategy will be just what the marketplace asked for. Each model will be clean and aggressive while maintaing its distinct uniqueness in terms of exterior and interior design.

The new Audi TT is not indicative of Audi's new design philosophy because it was made less-aggressive due to criticism by Ferdinand Piech. Audi will make its upcoming A4 and Q7 (and other upcoming models) significantly more aggressive because it realizes it needs to deliver on its promise of a new aggressive and differentiated design philosophy.

psst ... uh no it won't . They all look the same and just get over the fact that it will end up being that way. Say what you want about the X4, as it is just coming into the market. Yet BMW has proof that the X6 is a Success even though it was always meant as a low production vehicle. Yet you would know that had you decided to do a little actual research

Have you asked yourself why the BMW X6 was a success, BMWm4? As in was there any other competing vehicle in BMW's lineup to take away buyers that might have been attracted to the X6? Was there any other vehicle offered by Audi or Mercedes-Benz that might have targeted the same buyers and done a better job execution wise and stolen such buyers?

I'm not sure you see that the BMW X6 was a unique and stand-alone product within BMW's lineup and also when compared to Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Now, the stand-alone factor is gone for the X4 because the X6 is there. Also, the 3-Series GT offers a similar hatchback body style. The X6 didn't compromise as much from the X5 in terms of interior space, utility and visibility as the X4 does when compared to the X3.

Audi and Mercedes-Benz are also gearing up their own launches that will increase choices for the prospective buyer, which leave the X4 as one of many different options in the marketplace.

Audi has publicly said it will change its design philosophy to be more aggressive and differentiated. You can believe what you want but that information is straight from Audi. I would use the Audi A3 Clubsport as more of a template for Audi's upcoming design change than the TT, which was toned down and made more conservative.

Remember, being first is not always the best. Mercedes-Benz was first with the CLA and look at how the A3 Sedan is already outsold it for the month of April. Mercedes-Benz misjudged demand as well so there is a huge waiting list for a CLA.

As much as I love the styling of the current 3 and 5 series, this one seems pointless and ugly. I look at the interior of this car and it looks almost exactly like my 328i convertible. Oh, did I mention that mine was a 1998 model? When I look at the interior of the upcoming C-Class, I have a genuine emotional reaction to it. I look inside the offerings on BMW lots these days and find myself wishing they'd get their act together on the inside.

I am pretty much the target for this car, and am what can be considered a BMW 'loyalist' i.e. have only owned BMWs (on my 4th one).

I will reserve judgement until I see one in person as I hated the new x5 when it came out, but it looks much more impressive in person (as with most new bmws).

However, I would never take this car over a Porsche Macan. I just bought a new car and the only reason I passed on the Macan S was that the wait here in Hong Kong is 18+ months and I didn't want to wait that long so went with a 5 series LCI. Its huge but I found that I just couldn't live with the quality of the 3/4/x3/4 interior any more. The 5 series/x5 interior is just so much nicer. Porsche Macan is even nicer and the same level as 6gc, but I couldn't justify paying a 50pc premium for essentially the same car (a bit lowered with nicer interior).

I would take a x3 if I wanted to get cheaper with more trunk space or macan s if i wanted more sporty and better interior.

Okay, I am now convinced GermanNut actually works for Audi's social media department, and my respect for them has suddenly lessened.

He does. He's admitted as much previously. And despite everyone knowing, he has continued with his nonsensical, hypocritical ranting, to the point that despite having previously owned two Audi's, I would never get another one. That's how turned off I am to the brand because of his paid idiocy, and I doubt I'm alone. His overlords literally would be better off burning whatever money they are paying him.

JRob, I'm not nonsensical, nor am I a hypocrite. You are so pro-BMW it is hilarious. You must have turned off so many prospective BMW buyers with your constant defense of the brand even in the face of a clear and straightforward loss vs. Audi or Mercedes-Benz in a comparison test or when the global sales gap between BMW and Audi shrinks. You try to be BMW's knight in shining armor but fail miserably.

Audi's designs are going to be much more appealing than the X4 and X6. Why do you think that just because BMW and Mercedes-Benz have produced a "hunchback" rear design theme with the X6, X4 and MLC that Audi has to follow suit?

I've got news for you: A coupe-like SUV need not have a "hunchback" rear design theme to be successful. Audi's designs will prove as much.

oh yes. they will nuttie. Yet the dillusional rants you go on are way over the top. Mostly based on your own opinion and not actual facts. You love to bring up comparison tests all the time and the fact that BMW has not fared as well. The only comparison tests that BMW has not fared well in are with the New 5-series. The f30 3-series has bested the competition in at least 90% of the Comparison tests that have been done, the M5 has broken about even and taking the last and most recent one, the New X5 hasnt been compared yet as the New Q7 isnt on the market and the ML350 is more a lexus than a competitor. The last generation M3 bested everyone and it wasnt close. The New one is out and there really hasnt been a direct comparison test done yet, so will have to wait and see ( yet it should absolutely dominate the performance aspects of the competition. Just as the F30 328i sedan has made our competition look dated and silly during the comparisons. The Gran coupe has been about even.......

Audi's designs - are rather boring and unimaginative. At least BMW and Mercedes takes a risk. Sometimes it pays off as it did with the X6 & sometimes it doesnt as in the 5-series GT. Yet at least they have some balls. Audi just relies on its current desing theme where everything looks like everything else. I know that you keep professing a New Design Language, yet from every spy photo there is no change. Well that is if you think sharpening the headlights is a huge design language change. Here is an idea? How bout develope a platform just for the Audi based on a RWD emphasis to provide a more dynamic drive and feel. Yet I know that would cost too much and much easier sharing platforms with Volkswagen and engines ...

In regards to the hunchback desing to be successful? ? The A7 has a hunchback rear design. I mean it is rather bland and doesnt really match the aggressiveness of the front of the car. Yet I thought you said that Audi doesnt have to follow those designs to be successful.

The fail is in the attempt and pretentious attitude you take on thinking that Audi is the end all be all and everything else is beneath you. Even when that is not even close to the truth. It is like the Napolean complex or something ... Yet each and every BMW article or Mercedes Article you come on here bashing the competition without facts or merit.

Here is an idea. Get off your computer and actually do a video review or comparison test on the Audi, Mercedes and BMW. Do a performance test with handling, braking and actual driving & post your review on here. Vs. copying and pasting only what you like to read out of an aritcle ....

the only reason I "defend" BMW is you. If you were a paid BMW mouthpiece, I'd be just as turned off about BMW as I now am about Audi, and I'd be sitting here "defending" Audi. I hope the folks at Audi (or their guerilla markeeting firm or whoever it is that pays you) take the time one day to actually read your misinformed and ignorant rants, and the reactions you get from other people. You add zero value to any discussion you take part in, and are a complete and utter waste of their money.

BMWm4, the new 3-series has lost to a Lexus (when did that ever happen before?) the new M3 has lost to the C63 AMG (when did that ever happen before?)the X3 has done 50/50 vs. the Q3 and the X5 has done 50/50 vs. the Q7. The 5-series has gotten crushed by the A6 and the 7-Series gets dominated by the A8. The 6-Series Gran Coupe does about 50/50 vs. the Audi A7.

BMW has gone from previous domination to currently being dominated or barely winning 50% of the comparison tests if its lucky. BMW's sales lead has also shrunk dramatically.

BMW has lost its way in terms of driving dynamics and now in terms of finding additional market niches to exploit without overlap.

The writing is on the wall. BMW's days have been over for a while and its lead over Audi is rapidly being eroded.

It shouldn't surprise you. That's what happens when you take the very thing that made your car company famous (driving dynamics) and reduce it to a tiny fraction of its previous self while developing overlapping cars with ugly designs to appeal to market niches that don't exist.

When BMW continues to get whipped in comparison tests and loses its global sales lead, don't say I didn't tell you.

AUdi has been whipped for years in comparison tests. And NO the 328i sedan has not lost to anyone in comparison tests. The 335i lost to Lexus even though it was a far Superior performance car at just over 1 second quicker. Actually what you should be more worried about is Mercedes as they are the Real Players in the market.
