Hyundai Topples Honda As Greenest Automaker In the US
Hyundai Motor Co.'s quick embrace of downsized engines, electric hybrids and other anti-pollution technology helped the company unseat Honda Motor Co. as the most environmental automaker, a scientific research group said.

Toyota Motor Corp., Nissan Motor Corp. and Volkswagen AG rounded out the top 5 in the rankings released today by the Union of Concerned Scientists, a nonprofit that works on climate change and nuclear-weapon control.

Ford Motor Co., General Motors and Chrysler Group were at the bottom.

I'm pretty sure when they talk about "midsize fleet" they are refering to more then just the hybrids or mpg.

So the lesson here is, if you do not have products in the full size truck segment, you are perceived as green. If you do compete in that segment, but also have product offerings that are green (Prius, Fusion Hybrid to name a few), you are a huge polluter. Would rather see a comparison by product segment.

Funny how they mention that Hyundai dropped their 6-cylinder option in the Sonata while Accord and Camry still offer theirs. But,they make no mention of the V-8 engines offered in the Genesis and Equus.

It's done by volunteers, I guess that's the best they can do. Call Ford GM and Chrysler horrible because they make our trucks.
