Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson MAY Be Around For A Bit Longer Despite Recent Spat
It seems to be a global phenomenon that all it takes to ruin a career is an accusation that someone said something, even if it's not crystal clear or true. Welcome to the 21st century.

Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame recently found this out when the finger was pointed at him for saying the "N-word." Though he denied it, he later apologized. After that he penned a story where he said though he didn't utter the word he had to turn over a new leaf due to previous run ins with remarks that sent ethnic groups and social classes into a tizzy.

Though it's been said the BBC was very close to terminating his contract, clearly that doesn't seem to keep them from flinching as they're negotiating a new three-year deal to keep the presenter employed through 2018. Clarkson's colleagues, Richard Hammond and James May, are also in talks with the BBC.

Good on ya, Clarkson and company!

...Just weeks after the furore, Clarkson is set to sign a bumper deal that will keep him at the BBC until 2018.

A source close to Clarkson said yesterday that the negotiations had begun “well before” the latest scandals.

Top Gear co-stars Richard Hammond, 44, and James May, 51, are also holding talks and are on the verge of signing.

Clarkson’s current deal runs out next April but BBC management are keen to finish the deal within the next few weeks...

This is Clarkson. His job is to be provocative. I say, Jeremy, full speed ahead. I only wish the American Top Gear were the Brit Trio in the States. Pay them double and do two shows. The American TG sucks sweaty nuts and loves it.

Being "provocative" and being racist are two very different things.

There is probably a clause in the contract that allows BBC to terminate him for bad behavior.

That would be a dumb move on the part of the BBC.

Let's face it....Clarkson is just plain arrogant. Just because one is a successful TV presenter does not mean you can do anything you like. Many of the cars in TG are unaffordable and driving overpriced metal does not trump a good round of sex! TG and Clarkson can go and shove it. The world will keep on turning with or without them!

It's true Clarkson IS arrogant. But that's a good part of what makes British Top Gear so enjoyable. He is able to play his arrogance off May and Hammond. The 3 of them become the perfect mix. Yes success can go to anyone's head and Jeremy needs to reign it in a little bit. However BBC is not going to be stupid and risk losing one of the top rated shows they have ever broadcast on British TV. Without Clarkson Top Gear might survive. However it would be just a semi decent regional British show. Clarkson's personality makes it a world show. Like it or not that is just the way it is.
