The Big three have always had the biggest engineering groups with enormous potential that were held in check by the bean counters looking
to save money and top management always chasing volume. The new C7 Corvette reflects the hidden potential that's has always been there !

I am no fan of G.M. but I have to agree. I will date myself by citing the (uh..mid 80's?? I am not sure of the years even) when G.M. introduced the, I think they called it a CRT screen in the Riviera, I think Toronado, and Eldorado...it was a touch screen that controlled radio, HVAC ( i think)..at anyrate..an early i-drive, MMI, type feature. It performed poorly..washed out in sunlight, etc..but that is one example of them being way ahead. Of course..there are more examples of them absolutely blowing it!

1. The number of patents mean nothing. The important is the content of patent.
2. Toyota has 15-20 years technology advantages v.s. any car manufacturers.
3.Let's see the next years:
Fuel Cell
4th generation hybrids
New battery technologies
New IC engine technologies
New chassis and production technologies

GM just got a patent for brakes that don't work and another patent for air bags that do not function in an accident. GM is always thinking.
