So, BMW appears to have come up with a new strategy to bulk-dump cars for sales numbers. Last month, the 6 Series had a remarkable increase from the previous year (sales of over 3000 vs the previous year's less than 1000). This month it's the X3 (168% increase with no new model redesign). I wonder which model it will be next month. The X5 makes sense since it's a new model.

X3 just received a refresh.

the 2015 X3 came out last month. It was refreshed, and a diesel was available for the first time. So you had updated 2015's available, and closeouts on remaining 2014's.

The deals on the 2014's are sweet. The ex dumped the RX for a new x3 and never thought twice about it.

The X3 is about as 'German' as my neighbor (not), since it's built in Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. I owned a couple of 3 series, 1 5er before the 5 turned into a whale. The new 5 series coming out next year sounds promising since it is supposed to SHED weight and go back to it's true roots. I will give it a long look then.

We all know a "refresh" does not cause a significant spike in sales like that. And what explains last month's 6-Series spike? Sorry, not buying it. Like i said, will be interesting to see which BMW model gets the bump this month.

Boy, the 7-Series has fallen off the cliff ! I don't know what it is about the 7, but people just don't care about it. I think it will be around at least another two years before the new one comes out. Sad. The 7 used to be such a regal car (in the 1990's) - up until the "iDrive" one came out in 2002. Now its just a showroom doorstop.

What can BMW do to resurrect it?

I thought the new 7 is coming out next year. Apparently it is a radical change in design. It is interesting that people have decamped from the X1 to the X3 in sales.
