BMW Beats Mercedes Sales In May Due To Low Cost Models
BMW topped Mercedes in May U.S. sales as cheaper models and fashionable crossover vehicles helped luxury brands gain traction in the market with new buyers enjoying rising disposable income.

The BMW brand boosted sales in May by 17 percent, helped by an 81 percent jump in deliveries of SUVs and crossover utility vehicles, like the X3, which more than doubled to 5,723 from a year earlier.

Mercedes reported a 7.7 percent increase to 26,617 deliveries, led by a 25 percent gain in sales of the E-class sedan and an 83 percent jump in the top-of-the-line S- class

When is the new A4 coming to the US? I heard 2015. Long overdue replacement is needed ASAP. The new IS now outsells the A4.

I just test drove the new 2015 GTI hitting the showrooms this month (my friend is a salesperson there) and WOW. This thing is wild fun and allows you to drive it at 80% of its limit around town without drawing cops. And unlike BMW's bogus stereo exhaust sound, VW allows the driver to toggle the "sport sound" flaps (similar to the ones on Porsches) for more aggressive and louder shifts. DEFINITELY a significant improvement over the last GTI in terms of handling, power and all around packaging. Fully loaded it's MSRP $31,000 and is definitely in the same league as the A3 (without some of the interior touches of course) but comes with a manual which the A3 does not offer.
