2015 BMW X6 Leaked! Is THIS What You Wanted To See?

2015 BMW X6 Leaked! Is THIS What You Wanted To See?
Official-looking images of the new BMW X6 have emerged online, fuelling speculation that a full reveal isn’t too far away.

From what we can see here, noticeable changes over the current model include a more prominent, upright version of the German brand’s trademark kidney grille, a longer front overhang, and a reshaped bonnet.

It’s also clear that the X6 shares a number of design cues with its smaller and all-new X4 sibling, including closer headlight and grille integration, as well as pronounced creases running over the rear wheelarches and trapezoidal exhausts.

As before, it’ll share underpinnings with the latest X5, so it’s perhaps unsurprising the new luxury crossover looks set to feature a similar front bumper, tweaked for a sportier, more aggressive appearance.

For starters, the front fog lights sit wider on the X6, gaining distinct casing lines in the process. This sharper design theme carries through the side air intakes –which also appear to house a chrome trim – and the central bar connecting them.

The X5 connection is even clearer inside, with the same three-spoke M Sport steering wheel and a similar dashboard layout including 10.2-inch infotainment screen, layered design and two-zone climate control.

Although these images don’t tell us what’s going on under the metal, the engine range is likely to made up of larger xDrive30d, xDrive40d and M50d six-cylinder diesel engines, all mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with four-wheel drive.

how in the world did they make the rear even uglier than its predecessor?

I agree the rear-end is even UGLIER than before. BMW just can't seem to get it. Making ugly cars for imaginary markets without the usual excellent driving dynamics is a recipe for lower sales, higher costs and reduced profitability.

It's okay, if BMW can't figure this out the market will do it for BMW.

Audi is moving in the right direction creating attractive vehicles with existing niches in mind with good driving dynamics.

nuttie - what are you smoking now? Apparently the 250,000 plus people who have purchased this didn't agree with you. Luckily very few listen to your rants otherwise we would have a bunch of cars without innovation and that all look the same ... oh wait we have that is Audi.

BMWm4, once again you fail to realize that the X6 sold well because there were no other options in the BMW range. Now, you not only have the X4 but an upcoming X7 not to mention competition from Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

It's much easier to sell when you're the only game in town. Just look at sales of the Mercedes-Benz CLA for proof. The CLA is supposed to be this hot car and yet can only manage to sell half what the A3 Sedan does monthly and that's without the A3 TDI and S3 models.

BMW took the X6's value proposition and cloned it with the X4.

Nuttie - Actually there are alot of options in town from the Porsche Cayenne, to the X5, to the Q7 to the Range Rover Sport to ML which offer something different from the other aside from styling. And as such Audi and Mercedes have realized that there is a market and have decided to jump on and build a coupe like SUV. BMW chose to expand the market as they see Audi and Mercedes coming on board and realized early on that a less expensive X6 would generate big business as it most surely will. It will due to its uniqueness. Some may like it and some may not, yet it is not targeted as a vehicle for everyone. As such Audi and Mercedes are coming out with competitors to both of BMW versions as they plan to play catch up..... You just cant seem to look outside your proverbial box inside the Audi Matrix so to speak.

I love how you bring up the CLA conversation in a BMW article. Who cares? Just as we can say that the A3 will take away sales from the A4.

The Cayenne, X5 and Q7 are not competitors to the X6. They are designed to be regular, large SUVs - not some sporty variant thereof - which is exactly what the X6 is to the X5.

Audi and Mercedes-Benz are jumping into the segment because they realize there's a market for a coupe-like SUV but their execution will be miles better. Audi's styling is going to be aggressive and differentiated with a beautiful design including the rear. All the Audi concept SUV vehicles indicate as much.

There is a market for a coupe-like SUV that looks good. There is not a market, or at least a very profitable market, for an ugly coupe-live SUV especially when the competition offers a better vehicle for a similar price.

BYou can only get away with designing ugly SUVs for so long before the competition takes notices, enters the segment with better execution and steals your sales. That is exactly what will happen to BMW.

Technically the Cayenne is more of a competitor to the X6 than the X5. So I am guessing you can see the future, since you are guaranteeing that Audi & Mercedes will build a much more attractive variant. Technically and apparently, even to your disgust of BMW, there is a market for a coupe-like SAV as BMW has sold over 250k world-wide. Just admit it, that you hope Audi doesnt offer a Q6 or Q4 that look anything near the Q7, yet knowing Audi and their design language it will look just like that ....

Another thing I love how you have so much disdain for BMW and that all their products are for nothing and are ugly. By the way, M4 just destroyed the RS5 ....

BMWm4, no way is the Cayenne an X6 competitor. It is Porsche's regular, large SUV that just happens to be sporty by default - because it's a Porsche. The Cayenne is not a sporting derivative of another large Porsche SUV.

Audi's concept coupe-like SUVs look nothing like the X6:

The Audi Q7 will be completely re-designed and will be a drastic change from the current version, shedding some 700 lbs. and looking much different than the current hulking version. The test mules bore this out.

so the Q6 will look like an Audi TT that is raised up. Oh yeah that is innovative. How did the laser light launch go for Audi? Of wait for all the bragging from you about Audi being the first out, guess you can be a happy second now.

just cause the few on here don't like a BMW design and I have always liked the look of the X6 is wrong. I dont like the GT nor someother BMW concoctions they have come up. Yet I don't go out like some other "pr0-audi" bloggers and constantly bash the competition every time.

I have always liked the X6 and think this is much more modern and a very nice upgrade. That is why I am getting the X4 at years end.

It could be a 'floating turd' and BMWm4 would say "it's sharp looking"!!!

Wow...ugly does not even fit how this think looks. It's like the 6 ft, 13 year old girl in 8th grade with braces and freckles...the only difference is that she could still grow up to be a beauty...this thing will be ugly forever.

The latest X6 looks better than the previous one although it is more like a facelift rather than a new generation. Interesting how they've increased the angle of the Hofmeister kink. Love the headlight-kiss-grill design. The agressive air intakes are an improvement and make the car look more sporty. The rear has actually improved. I prefer the new taillights and they have improved the rear stance. The X6 looks like a lion ready to pounce on prey eg a species called Audi Mundanus!
