Tip Of The Iceberg? GM Dismisses 15 Employees Including 8 Executives For Incompetence
General Motors has dismissed 15 employees, including at least eight executives, after an internal investigation found “a pattern of incompetence and neglect” that led to 11 years of delays in recalling millions of cars for a fatal defect, CEO Mary Barra said today.

Barra promised that the company would address future safety issues far differently, warning employees that failing to report risks would make them “part of the problem” and even inviting them to contact her directly if they couldn’t get potential defects addressed themselves.

She said the report by former federal prosecutor Anton Valukas found no evidence of an intentional cover-up or that “any employee made a tradeoff between safety and cost,” concluding that employees initially believed it to be a customer-satisfaction issue rather than one that could lead to crashes or deaths.

Sorry guys. Someone had to be the scapegoat. Nothing personal.

A culture of deception produces deceitful cars.
There is something true about when things are made with love or respect,
it shows. Cars nowadays are increasingly "hollow". Airhead bling-bling is no substitute for integrous design and built quality. The question is, when do some of these corporations get it?

America is all about

Cost-cutting, profit, making junk, buying junk, eating junk food, etc.

There is a reason why the European brands are the be all, end all,
and the American brands are like, be all garbage, the king of garbage.

The vast majority of the people that read this forum are car junkies like I am but the really vast majority of Americans are not car junkies. What the masses are looking for is reliable comfortable transportation and the American companies are still pretty decent at providing this need. I've been driving for 44 yrs and in that time the American car manufacturers have never produced anything that has appealed to me other than an occasional tow vehicle but for the masses they seem to be adequate. I'm not trying to come off as arrogant. It's just that I like light weight sports car and there has been very little to choose from by an American company in forever. I'm sorry to say, I'll continue to shop elsewhere.

Nothing like firing people to get everyone else's attention in the organization. This is a good start, let's see where she goes from here.
