Ford Sales fall in August, Jaguar and Land Rover Plummet

Sales of Ford brand vehicles fell 11.6 percent in August 2006 compared to the same month last year, the automaker announced today. Lincoln sales fell 9.5 percent, and Mercury deliveries were down 12.7 percent. Sales of Ford's new mid-size sedans (Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and Lincoln Zephyr) were up 13 percent compared to last month (July 2006) for a total of 22,863. Notably, sales of the Ford Five Hundred fell 51.4 percent and Freestyle sales dropped 42.6 percent. Meanwhile, Mustang sales were up 64.2 percent and GT sales were up 26.5 percent. Jaguar sales fell 35.3 percent overall, with all models dropping about 45 percent, except for the new XK, which was up 106.8 percent. Land Rover sales dropped 19.4 percent, with similar declines across the model lineup. Volvo sales were down just 2.1 percent — with the C70 up an incredible 1,314 percent. The S60 and XC90 posted 16 percent gains. Mazda sales were mostly flat.

So there were 1314 C70's sold in August. Volvo and Mazda are the strongholds of Ford - There compact cars are also much better than the Ford's. They should use that same platform so they can build a much better car in a very important category.

Can't read the article... getting dizzy. Too much spinning.

If you translate the first line from Ford to English, it reads "Demand continues to grow for vehicles which have no YTD comparison, only month-to-month comparison. We offered 0% financing and produced a huge marketing campaign just so we could say that sales are up from last month."

Well... at least they have the Mustang.

Why Jaguar never built the 'F-type' concept car is beyond me.. looked 100× better than the old XK and the new one (neither of which I liked at all)

Looks like ford are in trouble? I do hope they sell aston martin to BMW, and Jaguar to someone that can sort them out...

Has the Fusion (even including its siblings) yet even surpassed the taurus, which is out of production? Pathetic, Ford.
