Out Of Their FREAKING Minds? Infiniti Says Q50 Eau Rouge Concept Will Debut At Over $100,000!

The production version of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept might get a price of 100,000 USD once it will become available for order.

The future rival for models such as the BMW M3, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG or the Audi RS4, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, will have an expensive starting price, of approximately 100,000 USD, considering the fact that the M3 starts at 62,925 USD. The announcement has been made by the company’s president,

They are WAY out of their minds. Given that the most successful Infiniti is the G37 that they whored out to customers on cheap leases and the fact that the Q50 has been met with a yawn. They need to work on getting the Q50 to sell like the G37 first. If they did a $100K Infiniti it should be a reskinned GTR and not some mongrel like the Q50 Red Water. And yes I know it's the name of a corner but it is still a DUMB name and I though IPL "ipple" was bad.

And the funny thing is, the American morons can't even make a single car that can match GT-R to begin with.

And your complain is meaningless, because the GT-R itself costs around 100k, and yet, it still did very well. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I mean, you can't even afford a 10k car, so why do you care.

"...and yet it still did very well."

What are you talking about? Nissan only sold 1,200 GT-Rs in 2013 ( https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/photos/10-worst-selling-cars-of-2013-slideshow/nissan-gt-r-photo-1389829435636.html ) and is considered a sales failure by the car industry. As a comparison, the similarly priced but very outdated Jaguar XK sold 1,300 units in 2013, and I have yet to find anybody on a fanboy forum who actually likes the XK, so the buyers must be a bunch of retired old men who do not frequent car forums. As great as the GTR may be on paper, not enough people are buying it and Nissan will probably end its production sooner rather than later.

Well, that is high but not wholly out of the question. Nissan sells the GTR (which currently exceeds $100k) at a rate of 40-50 per month worldwide. They will only produce 200-500 Eau Rougues over the entire run. This car will probably use the same engine and drive components as the GTR so essentially we have a more luxurious, GTR sedan. Enough folks might spring for it.

Not with styling that looks like the base Q50 they won't.

The exterior changes they made to the Q50 ER is kinda slick. But I'm sure that would be more interest if it looked more like the GT-R.

The performance model is nice, but somehow it screams - this was a cheap, easy way to offer a 4-door GT-R (like) vehicle without really needing to build a real 4-door GT-R model.

Who in their right mind would purchase this car over an M5/E63/RS7/CLS63/6GC M6. All of these cars have so much more to offer around a similar price point (the highest base is the 6GC M6 at $115k). AND, they're all in a class above and look that way.

LOL. I'm not shocked by any means. Iv'e said from the beginning that Infiniti is making a mistake by focusing on this model vs. building out their model range and adding a flagship. Pricing this above even the M5/E63 base prices is absolute insanity.

For $100K I would purchase a real sports sedan from BMW M or Mercedes-AMG.

This is a really interesting attmept from Infiniti to try to establish itself. Since the GT-R engine requires all kinds of extra sensitive and expensive maintenance vs. mainstream-every-10,000-mile-care (like M- or AMG) takes the Infiniti Q50 GT-R off the table.

$100,000 is high, but if it has performance that beats the CLS AMG, M5/M6 GranCoupe and the RS7, then it is worth it.

Besides, I doubt Infiniti will be producing as many copies as Audi, BMW or MB.

At best, it would match those cars in performance (and I stress "at best" because I feel it's unlikely). Infiniti can't get 0-60 below 5 seconds for the Q50 despite having 330hp, while the 335i and S4 are comfortably below that mark with less or equal power. So, I'd be skeptical that they can get this Rouge thing (worst name ever for a performance model) to better the times of the RS7, E63, or M5. Even if it matched their performance, it's just not a car in the same league and would look like a SEMA project next to them. The article even gives an estimation of 4 seconds as a 0-60 time, which is just .4 seconds quicker than the 335i and S4 have been tested, at about a 40% discount. Ridiculous. Insane. Misguided.

This is a concept car. The article makes it clear that this is not the final drivetrain for the car, so those performance numbers can change.

Also, you're probably looking at a production run of 500 vehicles, which makes it a limited production vehicle. I'm sure Infiniti will make the car perform on the same level, if not exceed in some, over the other $100,000 performance sedans.

i think this car looks pretty good, but at 100k, sorry i dont need an amazing q50.
there are so many other sedans i would rather have even if they are slower. panamera, m5, rs7...

Not sure what Infiniti is doing with the Eau Rouge. It will be very low production, high-quality, high performance sports car. I am not sure this is what Infiniti needs right now but ill wait for official specifications and pricing before passing judgement.

@MattDarringer--get your facts straight because the Q50 is selling as well as the G37 and the coupe hasnt even debut yet.

@cid--there is no doubt in my mind the Eau Rouge will outperform the likes of panamera, rs7, rs4, m3 etc. etc. This is essentially a 4-door GTR.

Why can't they just make a twin-turbo V6 with more than the 270 lbs-ft of tongue they've done now for more than a decade with the naturally aspirated VQ? I'd be all over one with 360 to 400hp and roughly 330 lbs-ft. That would be very competitive in a car with reasonable weight to compete with a 335 and an S4. If they want to do the Eau Rouge on top of that to compete with an RS4/5 or an M5 so be it. But like Acura and Lexus, the carryover, dated engines just don't cut it anymore.

Im not sure that building the eau rouge is over-focusing per se as it's only going to be produced in low batches. I'm pretty sure that setting a sales target of 500 with a 2 year production run is all about testing the market for early adopters of higher-end Infinit products.
