Lexus RCF Exhaust Sound Byte - The Roar Of The New King In Town? Or Just The Jester?

The all-new and upcoming Lexus RCF is one of the most anticipated cars of this year. Set to go head-to-head with the new BMW M4 and upcoming Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe, the Lexus RCF doesn’t lack any of the vital ingredients that go into a car in order to create German super-coupe rivalling flavour. However, one ingredient is missing: aspiration. The new Lexus RCF features a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 which produces a tad over 440-horsepower. This enables the Lexus RCF to hit 0-60mph in around 4.5 seconds.

Want to hear that 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 roar? We’ve got you covered, here’s a video of just that:

I had an RS4 and an ISF. The sounds were very different, but both were special. The Audi sounded particularly amazing near redline. The Lexus had this crazy low end rumble when you floored it, even at low revs. The RCF engine sound will be frickin awesome, especially compared to what's been reviewed as an uninspiring sound of the new M4. The RS5 and C63 will still give it plenty of aural competition. No matter what you think of Japanese muscle, this thing will be no joke.

The new Lexus V8 engine combines the Atkinson cycle (low engine load) and the "normal aspiration cycle" (high engine load). This might the reason of the interesting sound in different RPM range.
Good job Lexus engineers.

that sounds good. Can't wait to see it in person.

so it is already coming out of the box slower than the M4? and yes all cars sound great in a garage from the back of the car ... Especially the high performance cars

So, it may be a tad slower. I'm digging that it's a N/A engine, though. Shouldn't this be all about 'feel' anyways, coming from a BMW fan. I mean, the current Mustang Shelby GT500 is faster than the new M4, so, what's your point?

actually it is pretty close to the acceleration. Highly unlikely that the Lexus will be anywhere near the performance and handling of the M4. The last generation IS-f wasnt really close to the M3. I expect this to be better, yet it is a lot smaller and hopefully lighter. Most likely more of a comparison to the M2 that is set to come out.

Yet my point is the direct competitor for the RC-F from Lexus is the M4 & out of the gate it is already over half a second slower.

Lexus needs to capitalize on hybrid setup for high performance car, like what Porsche showed on 918. I like the instant throttle response from NA engine, but also the flat torque curve of FI engine. Hybrid can fuse the best of both, while optimizing weight distribution toward rear end.

Compared to the M4's exhaust note I would take the RC-F any day. The precision of the revs is clean but not obnoxiously loud. The new M4's exhaust sounds raspy and sloppy. Yes this may be slower by half a second but who the hell cares when you're talking about this kind of power. American muscle with Lexus's bulletproof reputation. This should be a very fun car for 'anyone' to drive.
