Lexus To Use LF-LC Platform To Revive SC Nameplate In 2017 - Will This Incarnation Be More Exciting?
According to various sources close to the company, Lexus is planning to bring back the SC nameplate after having discontinued the previous model in 2010. What used to be a yawn-provoking luxury convertible is expected to become a lot more exciting in its next incarnation.

The 2017 SC will be based on the beautiful LF-LC concept that Lexus unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and is expected to be offered with a choice of two powerful engines.

If it looks anywhere close to the LF LC then I would say they have a winner. The older SC was never a looker.

The question is why is it taking so long to bring the LF-LC to market? Assuming the new SC draws heavily from the LF-LC styling when it arrives in 2017, it will be wearing styling a half-decade old. If Lexus wanted to make a splash, the LF-LC should have translated immediately into a production car for 2013 or 2014 without watering down the styling.

The last SC was abysmal.

Yes Lexus is a little slow to bring a new product to market. I believe they are figuring out who they are and that takes a ton of time and resources not to mention they lost a year because of the tsunami. Here is what the proposed new SC might look like.

Current SC has a horrid looking rear end and useless rear seats. I hope Lexus does better, which would mean NOT adopting the current ugly styling with the spindle grill.

It amazes me how many first-gen SCs I still see hobbling around on the streets, faded paint and all. Those were truly sublime cars and Lexus should never have gone away from that formula.

The first SC is a nice car. I know someone who owns a nice one.

It will be the last car to ever offer a CD player

i actually liked the way the sc430 looked the first couple years as a convertible, then it just aged without any real updates, and never got power increases.
