LEAKED! The Great Weight Debate Is OVER! OFFICIAL 2015 Ford Mustang Info Leaked Via Dealer
Probably one of the hotter topics of the year has been the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang. Though I will admit our feelings are pretty mixed on the all-new 'Stang, the forums are buzzing with chatter about the latest from the blue oval.

What can I say? Their consumers are a loyal bunch.

Recently one of the prominent tuning companies for the Mustang estimated weight gain at upwards of 200-300 pounds. Turns out the company didn't get all that scientific with its "guesstimate" and they were way off.

Now, the record is finally being set straight. Thanks to a leaked dealer document that puts most of the 2015 Mustang's specs on full display, it's evident that while it will be putting on some pounds it will not be nearly as significant as estimated by Steeda.

- Manual GTs put on 86 pounds
- Automatic GTs gain 52 pounds
- Manual convertible GTs add 90 pounds
- Automatic convertible GTs tack on 60 pounds
- Manual V6s add 25 pounds

- Automatic V6s gain 6 pounds
- Manual convertible V6s tack on 14 pounds
- Automatic convertible V6s add 2 pounds

There's just ONE shocker if you've been following this whole hullabaloo. You know how Ford is releasing the EcoBoost four-cylinder? Well, it's not as light as many folks were probably hoping. It will only come in a touch lighter in some variants and the automatic convertible is actually heavier than the V6 version.

Kooky, huh?

My hat off to the Ford engineers. Still not crazy about the front end design, but this keeps the still heavier Camero on notice.

Also can't wait for a GT350/M4 comparison. Motor Trend ranked the previous M3 coupe just over the BOSS, so this should be interesting.

Anything's possible now that it will have an IRS.

Though after driving the M4 I reckon it will be tough.

The irony is that the live axle did not hamper the Mustang as much as wagging idiots thought it should. It was a very well engineered live axle. I love taking my Laguna Seca to the track. It is an unbelievably wonderful car to drive fast at the track. I cannot wait to drive the new Mustang.

The bigger irony is that the "DEW Lite" platform the Mustang was built on was in fact co-developed with IRS and live axle. It's interesting the Shelby never got the IRS.

Hold on.

You can't compare the standard car's with the Laguna Seca.

LOL Sure you can. You can compare anything. Autospies compares apples to oranges all the time. Furthermore I was merely piggybacking on the previous mention of the Boss.

The Boss 302 Laguna Seca was the best handler among last generation Mustang, but it is NOT radically different than the GT when all is said and done. The GT is a tick or two softer--and more comfortable as a daily driver--so it's slower around the track, but both cars are VERY similar in mannerisms in the hands of a competent driver. Suggestion: If you throw a strut brace on a conventional GT, the conventional GT handles better.

Conversely, the GT500 being nose heavy and highly powered means that you might find yourself pushing into a curve and then having it rotate the tail on the way out of a curve. The GT500 doesn't respond to finesse so much as "blast and brake" meaning you brake like hell before a curve and blast out of it on the other side. In that respect it's similar to a conventional GT. The Laguna Seca with its stiffer rear suspension and braced front suspension mean that carrying speed through a curve is an option.

Anyone that has a fast car needs an intensive week long driving course to get normed on vehicle dynamics. I go back once a year for a touch up, which competent schools provide. I routinely enjoy going faster around the track than a guy in a faster car.

Most recently I was annoying a guy in a GTR so much that he asked me to drive it. He knew it SHOULD be faster than the car I brought. I felt it out for 3 laps--a very odd car you're very aware that it's a "software" car--did a semi hot lap and then a hot lap. The dolt memorized the speed I was carrying through the corners. So out he goes. He took "my" speed into a curve, lost control, and smashed up his pretty car.

The new Mustang is one porky fella. The GT with Ecoboos is a portyl 3852 without gas. Fill it up and it is over 4,000 pounds!!!!! Ridiculous.
