SPIED: MINI's All-New Cooper Snapped On The 'Ring, Teenage Girls Rejoice!
Back in the 1990s and early 2000s there was ONE top pick when it came to a teenage girl's favorite car: the Volkswagen Golf Cabrio. It looks like a picnic basket with its awfully unnecessary roll bar and top that sloppily sat on the rear decklid.

For whatever reason, much like the Fiat 500, it's the sweetest machine to have if you want to surround yourself with women blowing you kisses.

CUT to modern day. These days there aren't many options in the cute car world and the MINI Cooper still seems to be the quirky pick. As Agent 001 tested the all-new Cooper out, we've been awaiting word on other upcoming variants. Given that there's been a convertible version in the past, it's no surprise that an all-new MINI Cooper rag top has been video'd working itself around the ring and now some more detailed spy photos have hit the 'net.

Looking much like previous-gen MINI Cooper, it seems to pick up where it left off. Like the standard all-new Cooper, it will get larger over the previous gen and we expect it to come in the standard format as well as S-level trim. Pretty much expect what you find in the all-new Cooper to carryover to the drop top version.

We'll keep you abreast of the latest info as we receive it.

What's funny about Mini's demographics is that one of their biggest audiences is women over 45 and especially divorced women over 45. So the Mini got larger and slightly more refined. Unfortunately, the torque steer is still ghastly. LADIES, DRIVE A GTI SO YOU KNOW WHAT A PERFORMANCE FWD SHOULD DRIVE LIKE. What's that you say? You like the Mini because it's cute? Fact. Mini's own market studies show that among women 45+ a significant portion DO NOT test drive the vehicle. The buy first then drive it. I want a Mini dealer because divorced menopausal women have money and if they will pay list price and not do a test drive...cha ching cha ching cha ching.

There you go again spoutin off... I can always count on you to put the MINI down and talk about newly non-existant torque steer... I think it is sad you have to hate on the MINI every chance you get. Stick with your GTI and leave the rest to choose the MINI if that is their taste...

I have to say I have realized that MINI owners are a pretty tight knit group. The local MINI club here is extremely active and both dealers in the Dallas area are outstanding when it comes to customer service and seeing the 'big picture' as far a customer concerns go.

Now the fact that there quite a number of females at the local gatherings is a plus. Gotta love the demographics.

With these new models Mini has not improved it's driving dynamics at all. The 2 liter engine in the Cooper S was necessary because the weight has gone up. The ride is improved, the interior quality is much improved. Performance and handling are about the same. A GTI is simply better with similar interior quality.

Performance and handling are already the benchmark, no need to improve since they still lead... I imagine the JCW will be better handling than it ever has though...

Actually now the Fiesta ST is the handling bench mark. This new one has softer handling. Further it's performance in S guise is no better than Fiesta. Sure Mini will come out the JCW but how much are they going to charge for it? 40 grand with options! Ridiculous!
