Mercedes To Rock The Market With 400HP Turbo 4 Cylinder!
When it was first introduced on the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG in 2013, the M133 engine was presented as the world's most powerful four-cylinder engine in production.

With no less than 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque from a displacement of just two liters, mainly thanks to a rather large twin-scroll turbocharger that gives a boost of up to 1.8 bar (26 psi), it makes the A 45 AMG and its two “45 AMG” brothers the most powerful in their segment by far.

A little over a year later, the bonkers powerplant is still up there when it comes to the power output, but there are some rumors that it could soon be dethroned by the engine in the upcoming Audi RS3, with the compact premium segment to become a bit more crowded in the following years.

Can we get one of these "Spy Nuts" to do an interesting article say on foreign car plant quality versus their domestic plant counterpart. Example: I would like to know if the quality of a Honda Accord directly from Japan would be the SAME quality in the plant as from Marysville, OH; if the VW Passat would be the same quality as ones sold from Germany; X3 from Columbia, SC versus one from Germany. (My friend out in Seattle, Wash got a Honda Accord with a "J" starting the VIN#). The dealer said any cars with a "J" in the VIN number came from Japan.

I would like ot know how some of these auto plants stack up against their counter parts in the other countries.

LOL if anything the American Passat has slightly fewer warranty issues than the CC, that mechanically it is quite similar to. Quite frankly if it were me buying either the Passat or the CC, I'd take a fully optioned Passat. It's a handsome car--not stunning--and the fully loaded American Passat is quite plush for $37K whereas the CC is on the inside virtually as small as a Jetta and costs $5k more when comparably equipped. As for build quality it's pretty much a tie.

Matt I got my fully loaded passat TDI SEL premium with every option except the aftermarket ground effects for $32k. We absolutely love it. far more fun to drive than any other midsize mainstream car. while it is no BMW, it is still far better driving and handling than American and Japanese mainstream full size sedans, and 47.3 mpg average with the cruise set at 76 was nice. the diesel has gobbs of torque and the fuel economy is outstanding.

BMW better hurry with the rearrangement of their engine lineup. Having their beloved 335 turbo sit around 300hp now for 8 years is leaving plenty of room for others to chip away. My guess is their 328 engine will get bumped to 300hp, the 335 will become 400hp. Thank you Mercedes for adding pressure to the status quo.

I think you are right. this would put them inline with the CTS-Vsport turbo 3.6 which pust out 420hp, so it wouldn't surprise me to see BMW follow suite.
