Should Porsche Bring A Hot Hatch To Market?
Buying a Porsche is basically only about two things: the enjoyment of driving combined with the comfort of knowing it's got heritage. And yet the company is getting away with cars that don't follow that mantra to the letter, like the Panamera plug-in hybrid, a nod to the future, not the past.

Of course, the Germans are masters of the balancing act, knowing exactly where to take risks and where to stay safe by sticking to core values. But the internet, well that's a totally different story. Inspired by numerous speculative reports, people have tried to dream up everything from a Porsche supermini based on the Audi A1 to 3-door SUVs. Most don't make sense and we think these renderings for a compact Porsche hatchback are the same.

A VR6 Porsche GTI AWD with 911 caricature styling for $35K would be brilliant.

Sure -- why not? Porsche has brought everything else to the market. Why worry about "purity of purpose" now?

No, but Porsche should, extend the Panamera line with 3 and 5 series fighters. I could see demand being very high.

I agree 1000%. I think an A6, 5, E competitor using the. Macan & Panamera engines would give Porsche the increase that they're looking for. They have the platforms and the engines to do it. On top of that with Porsche options they'd make a killing. I think that going lower than the E and 5 class might step on Audi's toes a bit too much.

Does a hot hatch by definition have to be FWD? There are a million of them already. Why not plow some new ground with a RWD hatch. They could create a new category or at least resurrect one that hasn't been seen for a while and own the market instead of copying everybody else with another boring FWD car.
