DRIVEN: Audi TT SUV Concept - Serious Contender Or Just a Pretty Face?
Audi is looking to take the fight to the BMW X4 and Range Rover Evoque with this TT Offroad Concept. It hints at a production car set to be badged Q4 or TT-Q – and we've had an exclusive first drive in the concept.

Curvaceous, chiselled and deceptively compact, the TT Offroad Concept is instantly recognisable as part of the TT family. The narrow LED headlights, sharp chrome grille and F1-style bumper could easily trick some into thinking it’s merely a TT with raised suspension.

'Capable of 149 MPG' Wow! ;-)

In the interest of clarity that is 149 MPG using imperial gallons. The US equivalent is around 125 MPG. Still nothing to sneeze at.

The Audi TT Offroad SUV Concept will be an awesome addition to the Audi lineup. Not only does it look better than the ghastly BMW X4, it has hugely impressive fuel economy and drives very well. BMW needs to watch out because if Audi launches vehicles like the TT Offroad Concept, it will have a huge fight on its hands trying to sell its ghastly-looking vehicles, which many reviewers are questioning the very existence of.

"...which many reviewers are questioning the very existence of."

Obviously not Audi, though, since those "ghastly" BMW's are selling well enough for Audi to be following BMW into every niche BMW creates.

JRob, Audi is taking advantage of BMW's mistakes. Not only is Audi creating better looking vehicles, but it also has fewer models within its overall portfolio. BMW is simply setting itself up for cannibalization with god knows how many different 3-series variants and niche X vehicles.

"BMW is simply setting itself up for cannibalization with god knows how many different... niche X vehicles."

Said the guy whose mothership brand has already announced plans to not only follow BMW into all those same SUV niches, but carve out several of their own, as there will be NINE Q models, Q1-Q9. Want another bag of rocks to throw at your glass house, there, chuckles?

Serious contender or not, it's NOT a pretty face. More of the same conservative monotony.

Q3 or SQ3 possibly? If not, then...why not?

Audi is so confusing....

They need to pull an Infiniti and confuse buyers with a totally new naming system and really make it convoluted. I don't see why Audi needs a Q3 and a Q-TT.

This concept Audi looks like a straightforward rip-off from the Infiniti FX!

Audi taking advantage of BMWs mistakes? You should apply a bit more critical thought to your statement. BMW's famous mistakes, the 3GT and 5GT have not been replicated by Audi or anyone else. I doubt they ever will. Audi is pretty much going down the same road as BMW. This new version of the TT proves it. Like the X4, it raises the same question. Why? Also, the variety of 3 series models hasn't hurt or cannibalized its sales one bit. Which brings me to my next question. Where is the new A4? What an embarrassment to have it rejected by corporate management and it's introduction delayed as a result. With this extra time to get it right, the expectations will be even higher than normal. The new A4 will have to be revolutionary, not evolutionary. I am eager to see what Audi can do with the A4/A5.
