Audi Creates A Suspension That Generates Its Own Power - Will Eventually Be Available In Production Models
Audi is in the advanced stages of developing a power-generating suspension system, Auto Express can reveal. The idea stems from the now common technology of brake energy regeneration, as Audi looks to harness wasted energy and cut fuel consumption.

At the launch of the new Audi A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid, Audi R&D chief Dr Ulrich Hackenberg confirmed Audi has successfully developed a 'generator suspension' that will eventually be available in production models.

It's nice to be innovative, but with German "reliability" I'll wait for the Toyota version.

Toyota should be with it in 12 years, and then have a couple of recalls on it.

Who cares about reliable toasters from Toyota? If it wasn't for LEXUS all they would sell would be appliances for the US market. They used to sell great products like the Celica, Supra, MR2; not so much anymore. At least HONDA has a good looking sedan with the Accord.

And Audi will have it first with a bazillion warranty issues and high repair costs that Audis are notorious for.

I don't see your point, given Audi is now ranked #3 worldwide in long-term reliability. Try again.

What I find funny is that regardless of "reliability" Germans cars are selling at record levels all over the world. The "reliability" issue is null for this market.

Traditionally - new advanced features first appeared on Luxury Vehicles or expensive sports cars. That is because the economics of scale have not set in yet - but Luxury Vehicle buyer often are looking for status symbols with the latest Gadgets. So - "Twilight Sentinal" came first in Cadillacs - and is now available in most vehicles (Auto on headlights). Once - to get power windows - you needed to buy a Lincoln, Cadillac, or Imperial. Today - they are in almost every car.

If you want to be a the head of the curve - you pay for it in expense and growing pains. But - at the top end - those buyers also likely have a number of cars too.
