VIDEO REVIEW: Consumer Reports Pretty Much Says Mitsubishi Mirage Is An 80's Crap Wagon

The Mitsubishi Mirage (known as the Space Star in Europe) is a car that doesn't do much justice to the Japanese brand’s tradition of performance models and competent off-roaders, but since it is on the market, the folks from Consumer Reports felt compelled to test it.

It has been a very long time since we last saw such a devastating review from CR: the Mirage is described by Tom Mutchler as the worst handling car the publication has driven in years and one that should have been on sale in the late 1980s rather than today.

The Mirage is a "Hail Mary" vehicle for the dealers. There is so little joy if you own a Mitsubishi dealer. You don't have a Galant to go after the CamCord. You don't have an Eclipse or a pickup. The Lancer is as old as dirt and doddering like the Galant doddered.

Dealers wanted something to sell. Mitsubishi brought the Mirage.

They Chevy Spark is no road burner, but if you drive them back to back, you would be an absolute fool to buy the Mirage. For $16K, why not get into a base Fiesta or Fit?
