Volvo's Next-Gen, Tesla-Inspired BIG SCREEN-Centric Interior Will Find Its NEXT Home In...
While the jury is still out on Tesla — at least for us — one thing we have to give props to the company for is creating an interior space that was a bit ahead of its time. I think it's safe to say we'd call it a game changer.

That's because while the Model S is an electric auto with unbelievable performance and comfort, no one is talking about that. At all. Everyone that experiences the Model S is infatuated with its MASSIVE screen located in the vehicle's center stack.

So, when we saw Volvo integrating a large center screen in its stack we were excited. But when that translated into reality in the released photos of the XC90 we were a bit...disappointed. It's much smaller than the concept, which is already smaller than Tesla's.

The good news, however, is that Volvo's next-gen interior will find its way into the all-new S80, which needs just about everything it can get to be competitive in the space. I think its right up there with the Acura RLX in terms of desirability.

The next car to receive Volvo's significantly upgraded interior styling, which will first be seen on the all-new XC90 SUV when it makes its debut at the Paris motor show in October, will be the S80 luxury saloon.

A company executive revealed to Autocar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that the XC90's interior, which represents a radical departure from the Swedish firm's current designs, will be incorporated into other Volvo models, starting with its larger and more premium offerings...

This sentence made me spit out my coffee with laughter: "I think its right up there with the Acura RLX in terms of desirability. " A $70K Accord is desirable?

I like the Swedish flag stitched onto the side of the seat. But, wait -- don't the Chinese now own Volvo?

I like it too.

Yes, Geely is the parent company; however, just because they're the parent doesn't mean it isn't a separate entity with HQ in Sweden.

Look at Jaguar Land Rover. You wouldn't even know Tata had ANY involvement in its operations — that's because it's "hands off" product development from what I've been told.

Bull! Geely would be dumb to buy Volvo and say do whatever you want. More likely Volvo has to prove itself with the XC90 and following products for Geely WILL just slap the Volvo badge on it's Chinese products. The Chinese are more aggressive than the jai guru deva om mentality of Tata. Jaguar is not a good example of "hands off" management. Their sales in the USA is HORRIBLE because the products are simply not good. The F Type needed to be a $40K base not a $75K base. If the F Type would have started in the $40K range Jaguar would have had a "Mustang" sensation on their hands.

We always disagree on JLR, Matt.

JLR's products are better than ever. No question about it. Yes, Jaguar's sales are in the can when compared to a decade ago BUT from what I am seeing this rebuilding period has potential to be the beginning of something bigger.

When the CX17 becomes real, it will be the company's best selling product.
