Well, if you just spend a brief amount of time reading and digesting what I just did about the all-new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, you too may start thinking that the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type and Aston Martin V8 Vantage S may have a bit of a problem on their hands.
While we've all been aware of the AMG GT, it sounds like its FIRST
impressions were VERY
impressive.
One of the buff books were sent out on an assignment to get behind the wheel with the head of Mercedes' AMG division. Though it seems clear to me they weren't allowed to drive it, the ride along should provide more than enough color to paint you a pretty picture.
Though the story says that this vehicle is not a direct SLS AMG replacement, it goes on in the same paragraph to state that its chassis is essentially that of an modified SLS. Go figure. Perhaps the three-pointed star has something much spicier in the works coming down the pipe?
In addition, the writer goes on to compare the car to the outgoing SLS.
From the sounds of it, this AMG GT will be a much more mature SLS. It will be a more aggressive performer and less prone to showing off with tire smoke and screeching wheels. Now it will be more serious as it attempts to set record lap times instead of having jaw droppingly cool doors and take squirmy lines around the track.
If this doesn't sound good enough, towards the end of the piece the writer notes that there is potential for this vehicle to splinter off into a plethora of variants. THINK: Roadster, lightweight coupe, plug-in hybrid, and — of course — a Black Series.
