BMW Announces Full Pricing For i8 - Packages Are Named Giga World, Tera World and Purse Impulse World? Is BMW Going TOO Futuristic?
We’ve known for quite some time that pricing for BMW’s supercalifuturetastic 2014 i8 would start at $136,650, but now BMW has released complete pricing for the super-hybrid, including color choices and options. Start pricing yours now!

Besides its 357-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive, the base i8 comes standard with one’s choice of leather/cloth or perforated leather upholstery as well as an active suspension, 20-inch wheels, power-adjustable and heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, park distance control, a head-up display, navigation with real-time traffic, concierge services, and, frankly, most of the stuff that you’d expect to find on a six-figure coupe.

Unlike most BMWs, which offer a gazillion à la carte options, BMW has clustered what few extras the i8 does offer into just three packages: “Giga World” (seriously, that’s its name), which adds LED headlamps and a choice of specific colors for the interior leather for $2000; “Tera World,” which also gets the LED lights as well as its own leather/cloth interior treatment, plus blue seatbelts, for $3000; and “Pure Impulse World,” which adds a dark-gray headliner, unique upholstery and the blue seatbelts and the LED lights from the other packages for a purely impulsive $10,800.

All i8s can be ordered with one’s choice of turbine-style or “W-spoke” wheels for no charge. If you want the i8’s signature pearl-white paint, however, you’re going to have to shell out another $1800; otherwise, your choices are silver, dark gray, or light blue, all with the i8’s signature matte-blue accents.

Fully loaded, then, the i8’s price remains just shy of $150,000. That’s still a lot of coin for anything with less than 400 hp, but hopefully it will help to ensure a certain amount of exclusivity, unlike the commonplace (at least in Silicon Valley) Tesla Model S. And nothing at any price combines neck-snapping styling with eco-chic smugness like the i8.

this article is not completely correct - you can indeed
order exterior paint trim accents in colors other than the signature BMW matte blue
